I think I was very lucky because I didn't have any defective cars in my past 25+ years, ..... until this BMW F30 .... |

Can attest to the mirror problem and it is about every third day. I too thought it was me--maybe my butt was getting bigger. It has progressively gotten worse. I've had the car since Sept.
I don't think it's fair to call it petty to complain about this. It's clearly a defect if these many folks are complaining and we have paid money for a great car, which I happen to love. But nonetheless it needs to be fixed. And no, it's not the same as complaining because one has rolled down the window. Please tell me that if every third day your window would roll down slightly to the point air was coming in you wouldn't haul your bimmer right back to the dealer complaining to high heaven. |

You can't adjust your mirror while driving? You never drove a car without an auto-dimming mirror and had to reach over and move the mirror to avoid a glare? "OMG Mirror drooping. Crash!" I find there's a direct correlation between how much I enjoy my cars and how unreliable they are. In my Cadillac the rear view mirror would just fall off periodically while driving, so a slight droop after 5 days is pretty modest. It's fine to complain about a problem...like violent steering wheel vibrations and burning oil. But some of the threads on this forum are getting to a point of being ridiculous. "My compass is 2 degrees off of magnetic north" "Are my carpet fibers too curly? My last car had much curlier carpet" People need to have some HPFP failures to appreciate their sagging mirrors more.

I've noticed the same thing but I just figured it was because I press on it multiple times a day to use the garage door opener. It's a bad place to have those buttons if you ask me...

A long time ago, a friend of mine had an E46. His rear view mirror had the same drooping problem we're talking about now. The mirror fitment became increasingly looser as a consequence of his constant fiddling with it.
Eventually, the mirror was so loose that it was just basically dangling/flopping around. He was trying to adjust it one day to no avail (too floppy) when suddenly, he decided to just rip the mirror off and throw it in the backseat. To this day that is one of the funniest things I've seen a BMW owner do whilst driving.

BTW, as I live in Canada, everyday I can see many novice drivers (mostly new immigrants from the 3rd countries without car life^^) are driving their cars just staring front, and holding steering wheels tight and close to their chest... Wonder they can look mirrors or even touch the mirrors to adjust. |

Nice, I thought I was going crazy when I had to adjust my mirror up every week or so. I am sure I have stop growing!!
It really doesnt bother me tho, dont even think about it at all. It could be the effect of hard driving. who knows ??

This issue has been discussed in a very previous thread, I am sure. In that thread, the OP was suggested that the mirror didn't have any systematic problems. Now, from what I read about other users experience, I understand that my need of mirror adjustment every other day is not a personal psychological issue. =)
I do not think that this problem is something which will cause me to complain about my car, yet it shall be understood that this is not a non-problem, nor it is something that I have seen in none of my previous cars; 1 Fiat, 2 different Corollas, one Civic, and one Passat. Obviously I will not glue my mirror, and keep on adjusting it when I feel discomfort. This may be annoying but it definitely is not a showstopper. |

I'll echo the sentiments that I thought I was the only one in the world that this happened to and/or it was my imagination. Every few days, I have to adjust it, kinda weird, and it has nothing to do with hard driving or anything that I've noticed.
I did just find it weird as I can't remember ever having to adjust the mirror in my F150 (which I did drive harder, but it was a 4x4 truck so it's expected to be beat up a bit). It's a minor inconvenience that takes 2 seconds to remedy and probably due to something not quite right inside. Is it enough to bring to the dealer? Maybe not, but if it annoys you enough maybe worth mentioning when you take it in for servicing. I'd like to think that a $56k luxury/sports car would be more 'buttoned up' than my 7 year old truck in every area though... |

Thought I was crazy for having to readjust my mirror every now and then. Kept thinking to myself that I really need to adjust the way I sit lol. It's something I usually notice before I start driving off so hasn't really been a problem. Either way, nice to know that it isn't just me! Will be something to get checked out the next time I stop by the dealership.

As someone alluded to, if you have to keep adjusting it, eventually that back and forth motion is gonna cause it to fail and flop around. I'd have it noted by the dealer, and if BMW doesn't come out with a fix, I'd have it replaced right before the warranty expired.

Same problem, dropping mirror. First time ever from all cars I've ever driven. But hey, what do you expect? The car costs only $52k.
Gotta manage my expectations.
