2 day. I think the M class is always 2 days right? The regular driving one can be 1 or 2 days, but I 'think' the one where you get to play with the M cars is only 2 days.

I could be wrong though... Regardless, 2 days for me!

Cool. Do you know if 6MT cars are available for the M class?

Last time I looked the 1M was the only one with a MT, the others had the autos. But I think they no longer use the 1M so they're all Autos I'm guessing (it looks like they quit using the 1's sometime in 2012 with the M6 replacing it).

And you can do 1 day M school, i was wrong earlier, just checked, but no one that attended the 2 day would recommend the 1 day from what I've heard.

Here is a good writeup: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=795938

That's correct, no manuals for M-school I guess not many people know how to properly drive a manual these days. So the 1Ms that they used to have were beaten/abused and they decided not to carry manuals anymore.

Congrats on the M3! IMO, the torque:weight ratio feels similar to an E36 M3 at lower revs, but as the revs ramp up, the car just screams... and then keeps screaming louder and louder to redline. I couldn't believe the legs the E9x M3 has!

I wouldn't bother with the M Driving School, just do local events thru your CCA.. much cheaper, and not stuck with whatever loaner they give you.

1200mi/month isn't really a ton for an M3, but no doubt the fuel costs could get to you after awhile.

As for insurance costs for 2 cars that someone posted about "not being able to afford", erm.. wtf? It's virtually always cheaper to insure 2 cars as a single person. You get a discount for having more cars than drivers. What sucks is adding the 3rd vehicle and getting hit for the full bill for that extra vehicle!

Getting a DD is a fine idea; you can get pretty damn nice cars for under 10k. The Miata is my "beater" but it's a fun car, and makes driving the M even more special.

My two car setup works great as my toy is insured under agreed value collectors insurance for $440 a year@$30k with a built in 4% annual appreciation.

When I looked into quotes for a second car via Geico it was more or less the same as insuring another vehicle regardless of how I split the mileage - keep in mind that I was not insuring one of the cars as a weekend toy. I didn't pursue it too much more because I'm already spending enough as it is. I understand what you're saying, but this was not my experience.
