That math does not add up. If only 10 gallons were filled you still have 5.8 gallons left. Your distance to empty should not be just 22 miles. It should be far more. Assuming you get 20 miles to the gallon, which is a low estimate for these cars, you would have about 116 miles to empty. You think there is something wrong with the car?

I dont know what to think, but I do totally agree with you! I had 22 miles left (so it said). So I put 5 1/2 gallons of e85 into the tank and the thought I could put roughly 10 gallons of shell 93 octane in afterwards but it only took
4 1/2 gallons of 93 octane...I wanted roughly a 1/3 tank e85 but something's way off

My light usually comes on at around 45-49miles range. If I fill it up at that, the pump stops at around 13.6-13.8. On my way back to NY, I manhandled about 16 into it, without about a 1-1.5 gallons left in it.

As cntzl mentions, it's 15.8 gallons. http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...fications.aspx

Very well hidden, but you should really search for answers to simple questions like this.

I did research it and came up with 15.8 also yet I'm the same location it also said the light comes in with I believe it was around 30 miles left if I am correct in what I read ...which is why I'm suprised the car barely took 10 gallons of fuel. Which is the reason for my post. Going off what I read, the car should have had a gallon or less gas in it...though it looks as though it could have had close to 5 still in the tank which throws off my E85 mixture from where I want it to be

Dont quote me on this but i believe the tank is at least 16 gallons.

I just pumped over 16 gallons yesterday, and that was not the first time.

I usually drive my car until it is empty (bad for the fuel pump?).

The low fuel warning usually comes to indicate when i have less than 50 miles.

I believe BMW set the cut off when your tank has less than 2 gallons.

For info: once, my car ran out of fuel and died right in front of the gas station as i pulled in to fill up... My car wasnt indicating any more mileage left for the past 4 miles.... I know that because i looked at my trip meter from the moment it turned from "0 miles" to " -- ", and it wasnt until i reached the gas station 4 miles away that my car gave up.

I had to push the car for the last 10 yards to the pump ...

Then my gauge is way off since it read 22 miles till empty and only took 10 gallons to fill.

And that's a good story about pushing the car! Quite a sight I'm sure lol
