Low tire pressure warning
My rear driver side RFtire suddenly has low pressure (24 psi while others have 29) so I had to inflate it twice since yesterday.
I checked the tire but didn't see any nails or any hole. I'll bring the car to dealer today... I used to bring my old cars to local tire shop and had them fix the holes for cheap. Now for this RFT I wonder what should I expect at the dealership in term of cost and wait time (can they fix or have to replace it) |

Perfect time to replace those crappy run flats!!!
BTW, is 29psi your cold tire pressure for all 4 tires? If so, isnt that low?

The car was relatively new at the time, I replaced the runlets when they wore out and the car drove way better after that, so +1 on the replacing! B. |

Of course the dealer isn't "comfortable" doing anything except charging you $300 for a new tire. |

You should pay them another visit. You fix runflats just like any other tire. So long as the pressure never went so low that you were actually running while 'flat' there's no problem. If you run them with no air then the sidewall can be damaged, at which point you should not try to patch them. You didn't do that, so you should be OK. If you do have to replace it a dealer will charge top dollar, get it through Tire Rack.

Thanks a lot guys, seems like I will take it to a tire shop instead, the car only has 2000 miles and I don't want to replace the entire new tire.
And 29 psi is when I first start the car, they climb to around 30~31 psi after 15 minutes of driving |

Don't you have some kind of warranty on new tires ? I had one replaced under the hazard warranty offered by Pirelli after 5 000kms less than a year ago.
Could your dealer have the same warranty if the tires came on a brand new car only a few weeks ago ? |

Had the luck of the draw to have two separate punctures on the RR a few weeks apart. Both times caught it before lost much air. Local tire place $10 a patch.

You're supposed to set your pressure with the tires cold. With mine that's 32 psi. They'll go up to 35-36 when hot. Also, you need to check them periodically to account for temperature change with the seasons. 32 psi cold at 70 degrees can become 28 psi cold at 30 degrees.

Ok so there's a nail in it (near sidewall so cannot patch) and BMW dealership quoted $450 installed, tire is Continental for 18 inches M-sport, I took my car back due to work and will try other tire shops.
For 1 tire replacement, does it have to be the exact brand? there are some other brands that are cheaper... |

Personally I had two of my run flat rears patched up with nails in them that. Had the light on all the time and did the manual pump, the psi would go from 36 down to low 20s by 2 days. One was near the sidewall. And honestly so far so good and only spent like 20 bucks for both altogether. Try to patch. I'm from long island and know of a great place my gfs uncle owns that did it for me if ur near by. Best of luck

Stick to a Single Brand and Model
Quote:
Different brands/models of tires can have: (a) differences in sidewall flex, which can make the car feel slightly 'squirrelly' / unbalanced in transition (b) different adhesion levels in, for example, wet conditions. Again, this could cause a slight imbalance (yaw). Such effects won't be critical unless you're testing the limits on cornering, or involved in an emergency turn or stop to avoid a collision, but why take the chance for ~ $150?
