I wouldn't buy one and voted accordingly.

Thanks for responding. May I ask for what reason you would not entertain the option? Just curious.

I wouldn't buy one simply because I'm not a fan of the styling and I prefer manual transmission.

Objectively speaking what Alpina does is very cool, not my taste though

Mostly because I wouldn't consider a diesel, but I really wouldn't consider any Alpina. For 25-30 years I have never cared for their styling.

So how much "demand" do you think there is in the US for the Alpina models as a whole, much less the D3 ?

Great cars without a doubt, but I see mostly B7s around.

I don't think the D3 would pass the strict US emmisions laws.

Also likely the same reason that the 330d & 335d aren't available in US.

It would pass. EU and US are essentially the same today. I would've bought a 330d but I had a 335d.

In any case it would've been a slow seller.

Are you sure?

Maybe it's that Diesel is seen as an economy fuel in US so performance Diesels just wouldn't sell well.

I would say the demand is minimal at best.

As much as I would love for more Alpina vehicles to become available here, I don't see them selling well. Aren't the prices very close to the ///M counterparts?

This is maybe a big part of the problem, in US cars are so much cheaper than Europe that I doubt Alpina would even make any profit on the very few cars they'd sell in US!

We do have the X5 35d, 535d and 740d that all share the same 30d engine and the X5 been passing new emmission tests recently with very good results.

It's about fuel economy, lack of a manual, and limited tuning w/out having to gut the emissions system (egr/scr/dpf).

Would be far more interested in the B3. But it might be too close to m3 in price and performance.
