How to remove dye transfer stains from oyster leather
I ordered 2 different cleaners: Mothers Leather Cleaner and Zymol. Both proved to be ineffective. Leather Masters Dye Transfer Cleaner is on order. Did anyone have any experience with this cleaning product?

Yes - jeans, unfortunately. Nothing seems to be effective in removing the stains. Waiting for Leather Masters Dye Transfer Cleaner to arrive.

I have the Opal Merino in mine and it's an absolute pain. I've been using dodo juice supernatural leather cleaner with a soft brush. Does the trick providing it hasn't been left on for too long.

did the leather masters product work for you? i would have recommended that one, but if it didn't i would suggest some apc at a stronger dilution ratio used with a leather cleaning brush.

I tried Leather Masters Dye Transfer Cleaner today and it did not work either. Difficult stain. I read that many professional detailers use commercial grade cleaners which have to b diluted first. I will make an appointment next week.

I have some dye transfer on my Coral Red interior, but I just used a horse hair brush (any leather cleaning brush should work) and scrubbed with Leather Cleaner and it was nice and new!

I have the venetian beige interior and because it so light any "dye pick up" from jeans eventually shows. One suggestion I was given was to mix a "small amount of Dawn" with water and use a sponge to clean the seat. As good as Dawn is, it didn't really do the job and because it can easily remove grease, I didn't want it to sit on the surface waiting for it to do its magic (fear issue).
So, I just going through supplies on had and found a leather cleaner/conditioner that looked promising - ForceField Leather Cleaner & Conditioner http://www.shieldindustries.com/. This stuff worked like magic - cleaned the seat and made it look like new so I'm a happy camper. Maybe Meguiars would work just a well? http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G1091...guiars+leather |

My wife, who was probably a gifted neurosurgeon in a last life (cleanliness focus) just took a look at the seat a few minutes ago and responded with OMG, that really did a good job, it looks like new! Now I have to do all the seats in both cars. ![]() Oh, make sure to apply this product, or any other similar product for that matter, in an inconspicuous area as a test before going proceeding with a full blown cleaning. The bottle says it "may" darken the color a bit - it did NOT in my case so that's probably just some sort of hedge but better safe than sorry. |

I've already posted but I will post again as I had an F11 with oyster leather for a couple of years. The only cleaner which I found which worked consistently with minimum application effort was Dr Leather Advanced Formula Leather Cleaner.
Feel free to ignore my advice, by all means, but this stuff works 100% on the leather coating which BMW uses to protect the seats.

I used to use Lexol on our Acura MDX. It worked great but wouldn't stay clean for long. I took a 2" paintbrush and cut the bristles to about 2" long. I used that to scrub with.
What about a preventative application of something to protect the leather? Any options there? I am about to be an Oyster owner and feared this may be an issue. Last edited by SLOWER; 03-13-2016 at 06:30 PM.. |

I was able to find and order Dr Leather here:
https://www.monzacarcare.com/dr-leat...irt-blocker/0/ Shipping to the US is pricey, but if this stuff works it's worth it. |
