It's not a standard 3 series, being an M3, but it is yellow - very yellow:

Go armed with complete knowledge of EXACTLY what you want. An EXACT bottom line price in print from a dealer miles away (Scotland preferably) - as a back up. Try and find a dealer that has roughly what you want already as a showroom queen. Be prepared to compromise a little on spec if that seals a deal. Be sickly nice and polite. Offer something in return....say if you're a butcher, offer the Sales Manager a deal on meat for a year for his family in return (quietly of course). Have your business card ready to give him. I went down 18 months ago to local dealership (Sussex...N of Eastbourne). Took wife, agreed strategy...which was WE ARE NOT BUYING A CAR. It took about an hour and numerous cups of coffee. I think I got up from my seat 6 times.... But got £600 more for my E90 M3 than I paid for it + 16% off new fully loaded F32. There are better discounts out there but getting more for your PX than you paid for it is insane and more than made up for that. Listen to all the guys on the forum, they know a lot more than me about all this.... Then there's always Tony Lewis of course....! Good luck. |

The 405m wheels are great, and individual colours are great, but in no way would I have them over a x40i engine!!! |

Also worth noting, if your going down the pcp route, those very expensive options cost you BIG as there's very little residual value in these.
MSport + and promedia however is a over few grands worth of extras for an additional £39/month. |

Thanks for the link PaulT. Must say I prefer the orangey tones of Atacama though!
Not going to go mad on spec regarding residuals. Desperate to find some time to get into a dealership. Will definitely get quotes from another place as leverage/background info. Cheers |

If you want a unique colour, what about getting it wrapped?

It's been said before but cannot be stressed enough, if there is one message you take from this thread:
Work out the spec you want and price it up on Coast 2 Coast and Broadspeed and take that printed quote in as your initial bargaining position. There is no reason to pay more than that unless you are set on dealing with a local dealer. Other point to note is don't let the dealer pull smoke and mirrors on you by going into monthlies / deposit / part ex etc. UNTIL you have agreed the price of the car outright. Finally going back to your original question, absolutely concur with others that you should put money into engine and options over a truly individual paint. If you really want something rarer, pick one of the off the shelf individuals as they are somewhat cheaper. |

I have a 320i LCI M Sport and it's a great car. 0-60 in 7.2s, 181 HP, 290nm torque (or 270 in auto) good fuel economy. It is very responsive and suits my needs. No doubt a 340i would be the icing on the cake but there's certainly nothing wrong with the new B48 320i engine. (it is the same engine as the 330i remapped)

Thanks TB, you're right that the consensus and indeed informed opinion is cut the engine. On reflection, thousands of pounds on wheels and Individual paint is indeed madness. This thread has made me realise that I need to research far more but I am definitely getting a 330i M.

I didn't think so...
I found this which suggests the bore and stroke are the same. http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/b48.html Last edited by sensible; 04-10-2016 at 04:57 PM.. |
