Dampers upgrade without lowering
Hi, Friends,
I would like to upgrade the handling the car, but cannot lose the ride height due to the road conditions. My options are (keeping the stock springs): 1) Koni Sport (Yellow) 2) Bilstein B6 (Yellow) 3) Bilstein B4 (Black, stock replacement- do they have any improvement over floaty stocks?) 4) M-suspension springs, which are only -10mm from regular (I have one person, whom I can ask for the VIN-number to order, but not sure these springs do fit stock front dampers physically) with further dampers replacement with one of the options 1), 2) or 3) Another option is trying to find used M-suspension, but this is a quite complicated task, as here very few cars were ordered with that. Thanks a lot in advance for any opinions.

i just put on b6's in the back (wed for the fronts) and notice an improvement already.i hated the bouncy ride of the stock setup. oem shocks are way softer than the HD b6's when i replaced. will update once i have the full setup, but from what others are saying, it's like "night and day" between b6's and oem dampers!

I just noticed your vehicle details in the signature. Got it - thanks.
Koni Sport shocks are adjustable and a great first choice. Koni FSD shocks are not adjustable but another excellent choice for your vehicle. Because you prefer to retain OEM springs, I suggest to explore Koni Sport shocks first because stiffer shocks with softer OEM springs may require tuning (adjusting) to reduce bouncing effect. You live in Rostov, correct? What are the prices for Koni products in Russian Federation? |

B6 Bilsteins on mine....it's firm but feels like a BMW SHOULD....no float and no roll, just sticks to the road like glue. My car is 2013 328 X Drive and had std suspension. The stock front shocks were RIDICULOUSLY soft....could push and pull them out easily with my bare hands...(not against the ground).

Yes, I'm in Rostov-on-Don. Koni Sport for F30 here cost $230 for the front one and $120 for the rear one: http://www.koni.ru/finder/777/5555/

So guys, thanks a lot to everyone who shared with experience impressions- I've chosen Koni Sport finally, as those are less stiff plus adjustable- another possibility to play with settings in the front (rears are adjustable only when not installed).
Awaiting for the order to arrive on June 21, so plan to install next week. Will definitely report!

any update on the Koni's? I'm debating between the B6 and the Adjustable Koni's.
I had the Koni's on my s197 Mustang a few years back and they helped tame that beast... not sure if its a direction I really need to go with the f30. Also, can you easily adjust them ON the car? TIA

If you want adjustability go with the Koni's, none adjustable Bilstein's are good too.
