b. Yes the ride harshness increases but the F30 already rides really soft (too soft in my opinion); with non-runflats, the ride softens as well. c. Of course. d. Increase in tire width with larger wheels can positively affect handling. A larger wheel is more rigid which can positively affect handling as well. e. Lowering the car positively affects handling. IMO 20" wheels on a F30 is a no brainer. Add a drop and you transform the car's aesthetics and handling. |

b. My F30 doesn't ride "really soft" or soft in any way, but then I have DHP on an M-Sport line. c. Not only are they more expensive, but are sometimes harder to find. d. I did not mention increase in width, but rather increase in diameter; more metal is required for a larger wheel, resulting in higher unsprung weight. The same is true when increasing wheel width unless you purchase lightweight forged wheels (around 20lbs each), which are generally significantly more expensive than standard cast wheels. e. Lowering can have a positive effect if you track your car; on the street, it's a tossup, as you now have less ground clearance and are more susceptible to the aforementioned road hazards, especially speed bumps. Screwing with the car's suspension, especially if you have DHP, can affect warranty as well as handling, and not necessarily in a positive way. I agree - 20" wheels on an F30 could be indicative of a lack of brains -I'm just messin' with ya . Depends on what kind of image one is attempting to project. 20" wheels on a 5, 6, or 7-series? Sure...suits the bigger, heavier car, same as on an X5 or X6. For an F30, it's sort of like "Fernando" (Billy Crystal) used to say about how it was "better to look good than to feel good, you know what I'm saying to you?"
