After adding HELC you have right click CODE on REM module ?

connect the wire of the inner light left to REM 174*12b pin17 and
and the wire of the inner light right to REM 174*14b pin12
Yes I fdl coded rem after adding HELC but that made no change. Yes I saw another post where they instead wired the inner tails to rem 174 12b pin 17 snd 174 14b pin 12 as you noted below. I know that's where the outer tails get power for turn signals. Sounds like that will be final solution. Be back with results thanks for the help
Ok guys I swapped a3 and a4 inner tail cables from rem a174 13b to a174 12b and 13b pin 12 and 17 and that solved the problem. Inner tail led now blinks along with outer piece. My lci tail retro is now complete

Good learning experience but well worth it
Just waiting for replacement drip rails as pre lci rails aren't flushed to the tail lights.

Followed BMW instructions to the letter and everything else works fine
I have installed the wire adaptor kit with wires for the inner indicators going to REM sockets 5 & 13? (on another installation guide it uses different locations in here?)
Any help would be great.

Also so should there be a brake light on the inner lamps? Many thanks

So just to clarify, I'm moving the adaptor wiring out of REM*13B to your locations?

Many thanks

I will apologize first for the long post and the repeating information in advance. I am having the same issue as Jus71n. I did everything per BMW's installation instructions. The only other option is moving A3 and A4 wires to another location –

Hardware

Tailgate tail lights, Left
A3 BFD_L to A174*13B Pin 5
A3 BFD_L to A174*12B Pin 17 [ Spot is already taken / splice ]

Tailgate tail lights, Right
A4 BFD_R to A174*13B Pin 13
A4 BFD_R to A174*14B Pin 12 [ Spot is already taken / splice ]

My understanding is that you would have to splice into the existing wire at those locations. The plus side would be no programming since it is tied directly to the left and right blinker. The negative is that you are splicing into an OEM harness.

Software

In the 'Facelift lights retrofitting' instructions from BMW it states that after installing the lights, 'the retrofit system requires programming/coding'. It goes on to further say that -
  • Connect the car to the ISTA work shop system
  • Call up the ISTA/P car programming facility
  • If using ISTA/P, please note the instructions provided in the ISTA/P application documentation
  • Select the "LCI tail lights" retro fit via the – Conversions – path and work through the created action plan
  • If necessary, carry out a car test using the ISTA system and note or work through any entered error memory
  • Conduct a function test
I have no idea what that means since I do not have the esys software or a PC. I've been using the Bimmercode app in manual mode to enter the codes. I believe I added the REM codes (below) but not sure what the 'HELC' codes are?

I've manually coded –
Flashing Rear
REM 3061 FRA_H_L_KALTUEBERWACHUNG / nicht_aktiv
REM 3061 FRA_H_L_WARMUEBERWACHUNG / nicht_aktiv
REM 3061 FRA_H_L_IS_LED / aktiv
REM 3061 FRA_H_R_KALTUEBERWACHUNG / nicht_aktiv
REM 3061 FRA_H_R_WARMUEBERWACHUNG / nicht_aktiv

Yep, that's what I did, splice into the middle the two OEM wires to join the retrofit harness, so I can get right signal to the inner tail light.

Davids post is quite clear and that's what I followed. All done in less than 1hr

Did you succeed ?

Here, learn to add HO-Wort HELC and VO Coding REM:
1. E-Sys => Expert Mode => Coding
2. Read FA => Name FA "HELC.xml" => Save FA => Edit FA (FA Opens up in FA-Editor)
3. In FA, Right-Click on HO-Wort => New => HO-Wort
4. Add "HELC"
5. Right-Click on FA at top of VO => Calculate FP
6. Verify in Vehicle Profile [x] Aftermarket_Fitment => [xxxx] HELC_LCI_REAR_LIGHT
7. Save FA
8. E-Sys => Expert Mode => Coding
9. Load modified "HELC.xml"
10. Right-Click on FA => Activate FA
11. Read SVT (VCM)
12. Right-Click on CAS (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Hey David, thanks a lot buddy, I was fidling with it and found the solution like literally 30mins ago before u hit me with a reply.

The *13B module does not work for me, only splicing the exterior break lights or the *12B & *14B modules.

I'll hit the shops tomorrow and see if I can find any Skotchlok connectors or else it's the ghetto option for me lol

Tho I am thinking the coding option, I like a challenge. :rock:

I don't get it, isn't the retrofit cable with coding is enough for retrofitting, or this method is replacing the need of the retrofit cable?

One issue I got (I dont think I have seen that been mentioned) was the LCI inner tail lights had a M8 screw instead of a M10. I manage to solve it by removing the flared M10 nut and replace it with a washer and M8 nut.

Next step will be coding.
Mr Chang,

I’m about to give this a go but need clarification on feeding the retrofit cable up the tailgate and into the boot to the REM. Did you remove any trim panels inside the boot to route the wires?

Thanks

Here is how I did the wiring.
The only parts you have to remove are the 2 sliding covers (where the lights are), the upper trim of the tailgate.
Also undo the trim where the concertina goes inside the tailgate.(there’s 1 torx screw under the rubber piece, the rest just clicks off). See picture.

Then i took out the inner taillight on the right side.
You can run the wiring of the left taillight tot he right side with a bith routing.

Then I inserted a flexible iron wire from the top of the tailgate tot he bottom of the tailgate where the inner light is.
This is very easy. Now you take the 2 wires and tape them tot he metal wire and pull the wire up and guide the wires easily to the top.
Once this is done, you take out the sealings of the rubber concertina on both sides.
I then sprayed some silicone spray in the concertina and on the wires to guide them easy through the concertina.
Actually this went really easy.
It’s just a matter of opening and closing the uper part of the tailgate and complete tailgate for easy acces of putting in the wires.

Then you release the 2 screw on the D pillar and pull off the rubber seal ( you have to pull strong to take off.
Now you take off the cover fort he battery to access the REM box.
I connected them directly to the connectors with a scotchlock tot he correct wires.
Put everything back together and done 
Hi,

Can you tell me location of the D pillar. Is it the trim panel inside the boot where you need to feed the cables down to the rem?

Thanks
