I called a local time shop in Houston and they told me they do it all the time... I searched all over the internet for the hardware but was unsuccessful... I'm waiting for them to give me a price... was told that they need to request pricing for the downpipe... In the meantime I will see what I can find under the F30 and E90... that's one thing I haven't fully understood.. as the N57 has been used in so many cars where really the differences lie...

The newer DDE tested on the E90/E70 USA cars has to be bench-flashed (cannot be flashed in the car) to remove all the OBD/CES checks to pass emissions (no-one does sniff tests on diesels, so "all" you need to do is to get a tune.) (If you search you'll find 2-3 names of people doing them.) You cannot code out those checks; a tune is required. However, dieselgate has sharpened the EPA's interest in enforcing things, and there are no shops advertising their services in this regard, as none of them want the $25K-$50K fine. One in particular stopped doing tunes while they got some procedures in place: you MUST sign a waiver saying it's for off-road use. One final thing: there were only around 10K E90 335d imported to the USA/CA. There are more X5d's, not sure how many. The F10 535d and F15 X5d probably have sold less numbers. So it's a small market and not really worth it for shops to risk big fines and to design and manufacture the dp's and do the tune. |

I think the issue is actually more one of demand rather than technology... |

However, it does indicate that replacement (probably) doesn't need hooking up to diagnostics to reset any fault lights, and they go away automatically on startup once it's been replaced or fixed. |

SA tuning in the UK
SA tuning drill out the DPF code it out along with the EGR and tuned the vehicle, all in was around £500
There was one problem I had with the car running a bit lumpy bit this was solved by just disconnecting the EGR valve I get no smoke from it at all and they say I never will, made a huge difference to the performance of the car |

Also, the N57 in the US is the same as the N57 in the EU...or are there differences as well for this model...? I found this...but not to sure if this is it.... any thoughts? Also saw this video on why we Diesel owners should replace the oil much sooner than recommended... Last but not least... found this in the F15/F16 section... http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1425461 |

Thoughts are this is illegal anywhere in the EU and your car will fail your vehicle inspections if you do this.
Not only that, NOx is nasty shit and proven to cause long term health issues. At the moment the EU is cracking down on diesel cars due to NOx pollution so removing it is just adding to the problem, their argument the and demise of diesel cars for good. I appreciate you guys want more power and efficiency, but at what cost? Go for a remap, use high quality diesel (I always use premium fuels like V-Force Diesel from Shell), and change your oil frequently. Not much else to it!

Liqui Moly Pro-Line diesel intake cleaner.
Perhaps use that as preventative maintenance?
