I don't know about that.

When I brought my car in for its free service which included a no charge scratch across my rear bumper they had a sign advertising an oil change special.

The price was ... wait for it ... $250
That is absolutely ridiculous.
My local BMW shop has a huge banner in the service department advertising $50 oil changes.
I even asked my SA about it while he was printing my invoice and he confirmed: "Yeah these days, they're cheaper than my Jeep."

Being a mechanic and owning a bmw it really doesn't bother me for maintenance but if your handy with a wrench and you can read and follow directions I suggest in investing in a bmw haynes manual they run about 25$ but well worth it if your out of warranty

Hoping to find one for a 340i in the next couple years... haven't seen one yet.

They are actually $50 oil changes. This includes full synthetic oil and filter.

The expensive part is meant to scare off the weak so only the strong remain.

Most 340's have less than 50k miles, so no market for DIY repair as they are covered by warranty and free maintenance (except for tires and some other stuff for 2017+ models in the US). When there are more that are out of warranty there will be more of a market for the Bentley/Haynes manuals.
