Spare Tire
Hi! Happy Holidays everybody.
I have a 2014 328d with M sport / performance package and 18 in wheels. I drive 500 miles a week (diesel) and I would like to have a spare tire in the trunk 135/80/18 but I can only find "donuts" spare tires 135/80/17 The parts guy at BMW told me it should be OK... Any thoughts? Thank You! |

Whaddaya want a spare for? BMW gave you perfectly good run flats! /s
All kidding aside - good on you for wanting to be prepared. I would think you would want to match the total diameter of the spare wheel/tire combo with the diameter of the rest of the wheels and tires. So if you had a 17" spare wheel, you would need a fairly tall sidewall to match the total diameter of the rest. Otherwise, I think the DTC would go nuts. |

If you're doing that much mileage, invest in a proper spare alloy and full size tyre.
The temp ones make a huge difference to the car handling, steering, etc. |

I was looking at a spare tire offered by BimmerZone. Seems like the one they offer for our F30 with 18" rims is:
145/70-18 The original wheels I have are staggered at: 225/45-18 255/40-18 And their site states that the spare would have the exact diameter as the wheels, therefore keeping all sensors happy. You do have to use a spacer ring, but it's included in their kit. |

What color are your brake calipers? If they aren't blue then I think most 17" wheels will fit. If they are blue, then you have to stick with 18" wheels. I'm not sure on all of that, but the information is here on the forums.
Perhaps post in the Wheels/Tires forum and you'll get better responses. |

So nice to have a spare & tool kit
I just could not live w/ the runflats on my new 328XI D sportswagon and thankfully had the spare & jack from my previous BMW M240.
Got a black zip up tote bag so it looks just fine in the rear. |
