JB Weld (Glass) to attach dash cam to windshield?

Fed up with my BMW advanced car eye cam falling from the screen every month. Bought the strongest offering from 3M adhesives and no joy.

JB weld two pack did cross my mind but I think they have a few products for glass as well.

Anyone attempted a semi permanent bond for their dash cam to the screen?

Any alternatives to the rubbish 3M VHB adhesives?

Thanks

I'd be cautious about using JB Weld. You may never get it off. I use the standard 2 part for a myriad of repairs and it never fails and can not separate it without breaking the attached piece(s).

My Blackvue 650GW camera system came with adhesive tabs that are very good. Never had one fail in the FL heat over the 3 years I've had it. Not sure if they have the size you need, but you could check their site: https://www.blackvue.com/product-cat...sories/page/3/
Here is their UK distributor link: https://www.blackvue.uk/

Good luck

The weight of the cam is the issue. It weighs in at 230g.

I ordered a Blackvue adhesive pad at great expense but that failed too due to the weight of the cam.

I don't mind going permanent with it but it didn't come with additional plastic mounting brackets. It is some Korean cam anyway with the BMW logo emblazoned on it according to a few forum members.

Cannot recall which particular model but if I find it then I shall order a spare bracket should it go wrong.

Glass etching cream and windshield button mount cement. Etch a spot to mount for the adhesive to adhere to the glass, then cement whatever mount you have.

I've mounted a Gentex mirror with just that setup and it never fell off over the course of several years.

That, or see if BlendMount has something that will work.

JB Weld! Now we are talking. You need to prep the surface. Scuff it up, maybe take a drill?

Yeh the etching sounds like a good plan. I will drill a tiny spot.
