Firehawk Indy 500 Tires
Just got my tires in the mail. Coming from Michelin PS4S. So far the tread looks awesome. Aggressive design and the sidewalls feel pretty stiff. This tire definitely runs wider than Michelin and Pirelli and Continental tires do. Much cheaper as well.

I will be getting mine mounted on they Friday. Wont be able to compare though as they'll be mounted on my next car. My current one (a E90) has Conti DW06. But they do look great and agressive !!
can't wait to read your impressions. |

How much were they? Certainly, they won't drive as well as the PS4S, which is a Max Performance Tire while the FFI500 is only an Ultra High Performance Tire. I'm really impressed with the PS4S as well as the more affordable Continental ECS. At that price point though, it's hard to deny the FI500! Looking forward to you comparison at or near the limit!

Would like to know how good these are just for reference, they sound like they're taking the place of the 1st Hankook V12s from a few years ago as the best value tires. A set of the Firehawks from Tirerack were ~$790 for me but I was able to get a set of PS4S from Costco for ~$830.

I have the firehawks for last 6mos now and they aren't bad for the price, definitely better then the run flats I had and they do have some grip and good comfort. But would love to see how this compares to the PS4s for future reference when I upgrade to aftermarket wheels.

From all my research... unless your gonna track every weekend and like to be extra aggressive... the FireHawks are the way to go... I've also noticed that the tread wear number is a good indication of grip...Hoosier Dot Drag tire=40... Hoosier Autocross Race only=40... typical race/street is around 200.... Ps4= 320 ....FireHawks= 340..... almost seems like a direct relation to how many miles to expect also out of them with normal wear and tear... basically times it by a 100 and theirs your rough estimate of miles....
All the reviews etc..etc... you can't beat'em for the price...will be my next tire... Last edited by FastF30; 05-03-2018 at 01:42 AM.. |

What do you mean contradicts... not at all... treadwear is basically telling you how sticky it is... doesn't tell you how stiff it is... doesn't tell how it reacts after heating it up to extremes etc etc... but a 200 is going to be more than likely gonna stick more than a 320... that's all...

How ironic, you have posted about these tires as I am in the market for tires to replace my RF's and after looking at reviews for the past week decided that these tires would be my choice. Waiting to see further thoughts as I am planning on purchasing very soon (this week or the next).

Firekawk indy500, this will be my next tire too. I use my car as DD. I probably reach 80% of the car performance.....never ever going to see the limit of the tires...for the price it can't be beat.😁😂

Not the best pictures... but here's a few that show the tires a bit. On stock sizes and lowered on HR super sports.

Sweet, you have the same color and rims as my car so I guess that is a pretty good representation for me--I like that outer zig-zag tread, gives an aggressive look.

The rim guard on the Pilot SS protrudes a decent amount. I am looking for a tire with no or slim rubber in this area to reduce the appearance of "tire poke" for lack of a better term. Thanks
