Best to have the beam deflectors if for nothing else to avoid a fine if you get pulled.
Never used Waze but it if it needs a data connection then take your Tom Tom. Don’t forget the alcohol breath kit and a hi viz for each person in the car |

Alcohol kit is not needed. Although it’s law to have one there is no punishment if you don’t have one... I work with a French guy and he says typical France really!

I done the Luxembourg to swiss and back to strasbourg before heading north to Dusseldorf with a garmin.
No hi viz, no breathalyse... just a little GB sticker on the tail. Beware they drive on the wrong side of the road. |

France is hi viz for the driver only, other countries is every one in the car.
A Sanef tag is great for the toll booths, straight through at 30 kmh. BMW sat nav was great for us last year, not one weird route, unlike when I went in a Jaguar a few years before. Had to stop using the built in nav half way though the trip. |

High Viz for all passengers and should be in the car i.e. not in the boot
As said breathalizer is non-fineable You should have a warning triangle built into the car but you'll probably want a spare bulb kit We did the Loire valley last year for a wedding and the sat nav was spot on, I used tom tom speed cameras for the speed camera (obviously). We use the halifax clarity card (no commission) for the tolls but the tag is worth looking at if you're going to go a few times. Also worth having a copy of your insurance and registration just in case. Have a great trip! |

compulsory if driver and/or passenger(s) exits vehicle immobilised on carriageway, in Italy at night or in poor visibility, in Spain on all motorways and busy roads, it must be kept within the vehicle. In Croatia the wearing is compulsory whenever you have to get out of the vehicle at the roadside in an emergency. In Portugal and Norway the actual law applies to residents; however, regardless of the regulations local officials may impose an on-the-spot fine. In Belgium the wearing of the reflective jacket only applies to the driver, it must be worn should you be stranded on a Belgian motorway or on a major road or should you stop at a place where parking is not allowed. In France drivers must have one warning triangle and one reflective jacket in their vehicle. Motorcycle helmets must have retroreflective material fitted (see touring tip for further information). From January 2016 it will be compulsory for all motorcyclists (two or three wheels) to wear a reflective jacket in the event of an emergency. In Austria the regulation applies only to the driver. |

You also need to take a paper copy of your insurance and your registration document.
See list from AA on their website. https://www.theaa.com/~/media/the-aa...ment.pdf?la=en |

I’m sure you wouldn’t leave the passengers in the car if it broke down. For the sake of a couple of quid each they may as well have one each. Then any driver coming towards you wouldn’t notice just the driver in their hi viz at the expense of the passengers.
