BMW F30 M3 Bumper Conversion

I've been eyeing a new bumper for the f30 since I got it and took a leap and got the m3 bumper not knowing if the fitment is good. I am more than pleased with the final result and it just gives the car such a mean look. I also vinyl wrapped the v brace in the grills red. I feel like some will hate because this isn't a "M" car but it's not like I'm slapping m3 badges all over, I just prefer this over the m sport bumper.

To be clear, you are happy with that fitment?

The lower proportions don't quite look right.

Welcome to the club. The important thing is that YOU like it. I would only suggest 3 things based on these pictures.

1) do the sides and back too, it looks a bit odd to have an aggressive front but plain sides and back.

2) I don't know if this was intentional on your part or you didn't realize/think about it, but your shop painted your fog light brackets as well. This also happened to me and I didn't notice until after I took the car home, nor did I think about it when I gave them the car. I took it back and asked them to paint the brackets black. For me, though I'm not normally OCD, this really bugged me.

3) consider tinting the fog lights! I'm not a big fan of the look that fog lights add, but your taste my vary (and that's cool too!)

Here are pics for reference:

All done!

For the most part, yes. The fenders line up well but the only problem I have is where the hood meets the bumper. For some reason the weather stripping creates this tiny gap when I close it. When I remove the weather stripping, the gap is gone. I'll figure it out soon.

Panel gap looks a little wide in the center of the hood, but it could just be the angle.
Personally, I think the M Sport bumper is more complementary of the narrower, more angular nature of the F30. The F80 is more bulging, and rounder.

My M Sport:

Notice the more angular "cut" above the wheel arch?

My M3:

That cut is softer here, or at least seems softer because the wheels arches are a bit more extruded.

Nice car. Yea I noticed the brackets were white and will probably go back and get them painted black. For right now, they don't bother me too much.

You're right there is a gap in the middle. For some reason the weather stripping creates that gap. There is no gap when I remove the weather stripping. I do like how the m sport bumper is more rounded and do feel the m3 bumper does bulge a little too much.

Your weather striping just might be uneven. Take it your body shop. Despite what I think of the M Sport, it still looks good on your car! Get that fog light harness painted black, compliment the front with some sideskirts and a rear like the other poster said!

I agree. I really don't like how round the f8x bumper is at the ground level. I don't mind a stock f3x msport bumper but the f8x really needs a lip to square off the ground effects. The higher ride height on the f30 makes it look even more awkward. But sounds like OP has more plans to finish it off.

Then why post you are "more than pleased" with the fitment

Sorry, I meant that I am pleased with the look of the bumper. I'm pretty sure the gap is a installation error and can be fixed.

I agree. it just doesnt match the rest of the car when it's lacking the wide-body fenders, etc.

It's off the europartsautostore on ebay. This bumper is made from the Taiwan brand Good Go which have a good reputation for aftermarket parts.

The irregular seam definitely is annoying. Not for anything but I've seen OEM bumpers with the same inconsistencies.

OP - you can adjust the way the bumper sits by tweaking the positioning of the bumper. There's a number of bolts that hold that area down which you can "calibrate". Adjusting the dials for the hoods height will also help improve alignment.

For those of you who have the m sport model and converted to the m3 style bumper, did you leave the ram air duct or did the new bumper come with one?

coolguy1o1 The F80 bumper looks great! I also am looking at buying the same one from Europartsautostore on ebay for my Alpine White F31 M-Sport Wagon.

Just curious in the past two years since this post if youve had any regrets or made changes.
