Ultra Low Emission Zone - London

For those who drive a pre 2015 diesel and live in London maybe affected. Its bloody annoying as I love my 330d and worried about the value depreciating. What are most of your thoughts? will you be selling soon or wait a year or 2?

There are another 56 million people outside London who are not subjected to this zone, just sell your car to one of them when the time comes.

Of course but that's if the prices don't fall ridiculously and cause a panic to some

Don't worry, your 330d is depreciating like a stone already.

However this will have little affect to the many thousands of folk for whom diesel still makes complete economic sense, and will do for years to come yet.

There's already a diesel bounce back in used cars this year, as folk realise this, so I read recently on Autocar.

I just put my number plate in and;

"You are not subject to the ULEZ.

You do not need to take any action. However, other charges may apply."

EDIT: Oh, mine is 2015, sorry, never mind.

335d's have been Euro 6 ever since launch, its the 330d's that only became Euro 6 around 2015 IIRC.

That is a strange thing? Why not the 330d from launch?

Another reason for me not to drive in London.

I'll cope, but an extra tax for some.

330d was around earlier than the 335...... I would guess that's why.

Birmingham are also thinking about a congestion charge, it's utter madness they seem to be lining up with Mr Bezos hell bent on turning every city centre into a ghost town.

I guess Manchester and Leeds will also follow at some point to increase the tax take because all the shops are closing down, but when there are no shops they'll be no cars to tax....

It's all counter intuitive they don't want you to drive in, but need you too so they tax you for environmental reasons, they get the money but the environment still gets damaged, so nothing changes other than we have less money to spend in the shops and then the shops then take less still suffering crippling business rates and then close down...

Madness...

Manchester tried for a congestion charge in 2007 - to fund and extension to the tram system. They couldnt get the necessary support amongst councils that make up GMC. I doubt they will try again for a while after how much it cost.... They may introduce a pollution charge though as that would be more politically acceptable now...

There are quite a few places heading towards clean air zones around 2020.

https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/fleet-fa...-air-zones-caz

For some cities it will gut them as they do not have the infrastructure to cater for nexus hubs etc.

I can see it all being a shambles.

I was in Birmingham this week and a company I was visiting was looking at moving out of the city as the control zone could have an impact on their business.

If Leeds hadn't spent millions and millions cutting the road capacity with cycle and bus only lanes into the city perhaps they wouldn't have a pollution problem, they are responsible for the 2-3 miles of standing chugging traffic every morning and night as they live in a fantasy world where they think they can control peoples habits without providing a viable alternative.

It's pathetic if they want us off the roads they need to reopen all the old lines and rebuild the stations.

As an example Manchester is only 50 miles from me yet takes over 2 hours and 3 trains to get there....

Northern power house my arse!
