Creaking/squeaking door-seals are back .. and solved
So I applied the teflon tape (extra thick) along my trim for the creaking "doorseals"
and for a few days there seemed to be silence but it came back (as others noticed as well) With a bit of irritation at putting in some effort in tefloning this car I set about to figure this out once and for all Some investigation finally narrowed it down to: the rear seatbelt hinges Theoretically it doesnt seem like a culprit but lo and behold when moved ever slightly esp under say bumps in the road, the exact creak/squeaks were reproduced.. Solution: a drop of oil on the rear seat belt buckle metallic hinge Take something which won't damage the leather and pry away gently the leather to expose the hinge deep underneath. Apply a drop of oil via something thin and elongated (I used an ice-pick) Alternatively you could give it a quick squirt of WD40 via the straw I suppose The front seatbelt hinges theoretically could produce squeaks as well.. I concentrated on the rears as they were the ones likely bouncing about and squeaking on the twisties The pic shows the hard to get at metal hinge |

imo the belt buckle could be a major culprit since its hinged and top heavy like a mace so on the bumps it'll want to rotate slightly ergo creating that squeak if not lubed like I said I reproduced it and its gone.. |
