Before buying on contract again price up the option of buying the phone via the iPhone Payments program (interest free payments spread over 20 months) and getting a SIM only deal with your chosen provider. More often than not it works out better and cheaper than the monthly contracts and you're free to upgrade your phone as and when you wish.

Personally I always purchase the phone outright from Apple and carry on with my SIM only deal. Cheapest way and not beholden to contracts with the phone. The iPhone Payments program gives people the option of doing this by spreading the cost rather than paying all up front.

Wow I didn't know there was a 0% interest option!! I've only ever seen the 19.9% one!

I've been paying £35 more than a sim only deal for my 7, so it has cost me £840, so only £160 less than a Xs will cost over 20 months!

This is quite a revelation!

Yea yea.

But this does change everything. I was going to consider an Xr for fifty something per month and with this I can get a Xs for the same amount (including a sim only deal).

Yep new Xbox 2 (Scarlet) is due to coincide with the new PS.

Admittedly we are talking 2020.

Oh phew, I want to get some use out of my £500 Xbox before it's replaced!!

Mind you, since I got it every game I've wanted has been available on PC, even Forza is now, so I shouldn't have bought it!

That definitely is a help. I will go in store when they have both the Xs & Xr to try, and and if the Xr is too big I’ll feel happy getting the Xs on this plan!

@teaston definitely do the sums on buying the phone from Apple and going sim only. Generally seems to save 200+ over the two years. We've been doing that for years. Also means an unlocked phone to sell when you are done with it, which is an advantage. Plus, upgrade when you want.

Wowsers. I pay £5 a month for 8gb data, a few thousand minutes and calls. That'd make the phone cost me over £2k!

Virgin are also worth considering.

https://www.virginmedia.com/mobile/p...fID=1474810819

The similar deal to the O2 one is £50 for 50GB data, alternatively it's £55 for unlimited with virgin customers.

My iPhone sim costs me £9 a month for 10gB.

Exactly what I do. Usually works out better than the upgrade program too...

Find it hard to beat Vodafone sim only. 40gb 4g, unlimited calls and texts etc and Spotify premium for 25 quid a month. Maybe 40gb is a bit much but previous deals were 10gb for about 20 quid inc Spotify

I have the iPhone X 256 from US (so was a bit cheaper) can get 600 trade in (can’t be bothered with fleebay) and my mate works for Apple so getting the new iPhone Xs max 256 with about 15% off
