6WB Retrofit in Toronto
I purchased a new 6WB cluster from eBay three days back which was delivered (via TNT Express) in Toronto today (Nov 8, 2018). The unit cost me ~$1550 CAD including shipping. The seller adjusted the invoice (on the shipment docs), so it sailed through customs. This was a risk I was willing to take.
Coding will be done by steve@codemybimmer tomorrow at their location in North York, Toronto. I believe they can only code new units and can do remote coding as well. I will update if all goes well tomorrow. This could be another alternate to bimmertech or kiesmotorsport where the cost (which includes the new unit, shipping and global remote coding session) runs north of ~$2200 CAD with the USD to CAD exchange rate factor. And that is not including import duties / taxes. Last edited by zeiesfirdaus; 11-09-2018 at 01:06 PM.. |

I do not think it’s very wise to tell everyone that you’ve committed a customs fraud.
But thanks for sharing. |

Happy to report that everything went smoothly. No red dot / any other issues. Francis from steve@codemybimmer knew what he was doing and did the coding under 10 minutes. It took 5 minutes for the cluster swap which I did myself at their location.

Converted, with shipping, you’re essentially paying the same price. So how did you get the tail lights for free??? Just curious. No attitude required.

There is no escape. I got an invoice from FedEX (TNT) for 13.54 CAD today which included 10 CAD Handling fee and 2.24 CAD Duty (on a reported Value of 30 Euro) & 1.3 CAD HST... Happy to pay the fee. Like I said in my earlier posts, the seller reported this value of 30 Euros.

Wondering if you had to get any extra harness for your retrofit. Was it a complete plug and play + coding? Noticed in the Bimmertech install video that depending on the chassis code, there may be extra wires required.
Was something like this what you got? https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Genuine-BMW-...wAAOSwy0JZ8GVs |
