Steering rack warranty replacement
My 330D 2015 is going in for a service next week and read on here about seeing rack problems.
When I turn the car off and move the steering wheel I get a small knock, I read this this is good I dont have any other problems and dont notice any other problems with the steering. I have an extended warranty, do I mention this to BMW and would this be covered and how would like know if its failed ? |

Absolutely mention it. Mine was replaced under CPO warranty. Just show them the clunk it does when the car is off. This was all it took for them to replace mine. It’s a few thousand to replace so do it ASAP.

I have heard of the issue coming back after they replace the rack but I have never heard of it causing an unsafe driving condition so if the clunk comes back on mine. I won’t be replacing it out of my own pocket either. It’s just to much money.

A local indépendant BMW specialist told me it's more of a built in feature on the F series cars.
They told me they could replace the rack at around £2000 but the noise would come back and it's not dangerous or a safety issue. |
