Fair, $200 seemed a little high but I guess it's definitely too high. Thanks for clearing that up...

You have to keep in mind, they see you driving in a recent BMW they will try to charge you premium prices, as opposed to driving in with an old honda or something, for the same work.

Is the valve removable? So am I able to transfer the one from my original exhaust and transfer it to the mpe one? The one I am buying the guy removed the black box for valve. Just want to make sure before I buy! See pic below

I'm not sure how difficult or involved it would be, but I'm sure there's a way to install a flap back in there.

Super easy, 3 bolts and you can take it off from your stock one to the MPE and bolt it on.There is a heat shield that goes between the plastic box and the MPE exhaust, same as stock, so dont forget to put that inbetween!
Oh and dont forget the little spring that actually controls the valve that connects to the actuator, before you fully tighten the bolts on the mpe, reinstall the spring and then tighten the bolts down, otherwise its a PITA to put that spring in. Last edited by RMachuca3d; 12-14-2018 at 04:02 PM.. |

Got mine for $650 off this forum and had it installed for $80. Was considering a resonator delete as well but I've been running just the MPE itself for now 1.5 years. After breaking in its a really nice daily exhaust, not overbearing on the drone. You can definitely get crackles and pops out of this exhaust without anything else. When its warmed up, and you shift into Sports + and really push it at gear shifts you hear the farts in between shifts which is nice as well.

The rattling is from the valve inside one of the pipes, it only happens when cold, once it warms up there is no rattle, one way around this is to disconnect the valve and wire it open permanently.

Installed the exhaust today on my 328i, 100% worth it. It made the car sound sooooo much better. Install was straight forward, followed the install threads on the forum and a few videos. For anyone considering this, I highly recommend you get it.
Here's a video of it: |

I picked mine up used for 325 bucks, got a clamp off another member for 25. Very worthwhile mod, thousands of miles later and I still love the sound.
I used picture wire to keep the flap open all the time, makes it a bit throatier down low. The mechanism is still in there but the pin flew out during a track day, it was like I was driving a can full of coins for the last session. Not again.

I got a 335i exhaust for my 328i F30 and I also placed an exhaust cut out. With the car in sport mode (so the original exhaust valve open) and the exhaust cut out closed, the sound is sporty. With the exhaust cut out open, the shifts are very audible and the sound is even sportier. The overall sound is rather throaty, especially up in the rev range. You can also clearly hear burbles when letting go of the gas and they are quite pronounced when revving.
Update: Removed the resonator, it is a PITA to do since it has to be welded for a proper fit. Last edited by Guus keunen; 11-21-2021 at 03:31 AM.. |

M Performance Exhaust (#18302293771)
This M Performance Exhaust #18302293771 was the best mod I ever made on my 2013 328i. The exhaust tone is simply amazing. I removed it before I traded in my BMW. I put about 20k miles on it and its in great condition. $750. Philadelphia area.
