Bmw wheel lock removal
I bought my 435i from a private party but didnt realize it had wheel locks on the wheel until it was time to get new tires and the techs were unable to remove the wheel due to the lock on all 4 tires. I personally dont have the key neither does the previous owner. I bought a new pair of wheel locks from the dealership prior to knowing the car already had them. Does anyone know how much the dealership will charge to remove them ?

If those locks are from BMW, the dealer might have the key to remove them - there are a limited number of "codes"/keys. They can also be removed with an oversized socket pounded onto them - ruins the socket & lock bolt.

If the previous owner don't have the key...you say. Did you at least look around inside the car for the wheel lock key, usually every owner just left it somewhere inside the car. Trunk, glove box, check where the battery is or the tool compartment.
If not then time to break them |

OP, there are special lock remover sockets, your dealer probably has one. Since you bought the new locks from him he would likely pull the old ones and install the new at no charge. |

Haha this same situation happened to me. Also bought from a private dealer. What i did was, i went to the dealer and they have a master key set. And they try every wheel lock key until one fits your specific wheel lock. Then you can buy it for like $15.

Your BMW dealer has a master set with all wheel lock patterns (about 25 versions) for the OEM McGard wheel lock bolts.
Will take them max 5 min to help you remove your four current wheel locks. |
