Just wondering what mode do you guys drive in. I'm always always in comfort mode until the 25 year old in me comes to life and then I switch to sport mode. Never in Sport + and occasionally in Eco-Pro just curious to know what you all like to drive in

Mine is xdrive so not much difference between sports and comfort modes other than tightening up of steering wheel.
I am thus in comfort mode 99%of the time At times I nudge the gearshift stick to manual to give me the sports shifter in comfort and floor it if I need any spirited driving without using paddle shifts. I rarely use sports mode or sports plus mode Plenty of power available in comfort for my satisfaction. I used sports plus once when it was 0 degrees in a sharp corner and the back wheels slid dramatically before the dsc kicked in and steadied things. It was exhilarating but i think I wouldn't do it again on the stock f34 |

I'm in comfort unless I see that I'm going to want to pass someone. Then I'll put it into sport to get the revs up and the turbo cranking. After I'm done passing it goes back into comfort.

Good points on the wear and tear. I usually use comfort. Sport is certainly more fun and sounds a heck of a lot better on a warm day with the windows open.
I have a teen driver and eco mode is great for her, especially as she is learning and working to get her license. If she gets a little spooked and drives the pedal down in eco the 6 cylinders are less likely to bust a move for her. For me I have played with the different modes in a semi-scientific manner. I can easily get 10% better mpg in eco and if super anal in the city a bit more. Yes it takes patience and is boring, but for the sake of science (haha), I tested this on a tank or two of gas here and there. On Louisiana highways that are flat and fast I can't find any real difference in mpg in eco, comfort and sport. If I put the cruise at a set speed from say 65-80 or so and then examine the bmw measured mpg via efficient dynamics at that speed over time, it is a flat series of bars for all 3 modes. So at least in my car under these conditions (flat highways, same weather, same speed as set by the cruise, and same rpms at least visually in comfort and sport) over many trips and each time over hours of driving, I can't see any measurable differences as measured by BMW's algorithms. The distance of the trips I usually take are the same and I can also say that level of gas at the end point is the same if I take a trip and use just comfort vs sport for the whole trip. |

I had an interesting experience in my 30d X5 that permanently spooked me off eco pro. The first time I tried it I was in a country road and attempted to overtake another car without realising that I was in eco pro and it was so bad.
I narrowly missed hitting an oncoming car head on as just before impact the engine finally kicked in and pulled the car. Bad news was the oncoming car that I nearly crashed into was an unmarked police car who then turned around followed and stopped me and I had to use a significant amount of wit to wiggle out of getting charged with 'reckless dangerous driving' which is a criminal offence. I will Never use eco pro in the highway. I do use eco pro when in crawling traffic <20mph any speed over that is comfort for me. |

If there was a way to remove Eco mode from the driving options I'd do it. I'm 95% in comfort mode and the rest in Sport. Note I am using JB+ chip/tuner.

Comfort/sport most of the time.
Sport + when I know for sure there is no chance of ice. (Sport + in winter is what took my 328i from me.) when I want to have fun in the summer, Sport/Sport + and paddle shifters are amazing. when I'm low on gas or cruising for an extended period of time, Eco pro and cruise control all the way. |

I too use Comfort most of the time. But the car is new to me, and I'm still exploring the kind of fuel economy I can get and how the modes affect both that and the driving experience. I agree that EcoPro is sluggish, unless you click the transmission lever left for the sport setting. Then the car revs nicely and is almost as much fun to drive as Comfort with normal transmission setting.
I use EcoPro during the first part of my commute home in the evening, the section with more stoplights and traffic. As I approach the bridge over the river, I click into Comfort, growl my way up the twisting ramp, and accelerate to match the traffic at the bridge itself. Usually I leave it in Comfort for the three miles home. In the morning, Comfort for three miles to the top of the bridge, and then EcoPro for the steady seven-mile run to my exit. Then Comfort again as I slide along a series of boulevards and two-lane streets for two miles or so, to where I park. |

90% in comfort and 10% sport. Usually if i am in the GT, its hauling my wife/kid around. So not really trying to get up and go in the 328. Everything is too soft and quiet to get too much enjoyment out of the sport modes.
My daily is the opposite though, very stiff/direct and loud. So I usually get the sportiness out of me before getting behind the wheel in the GT |
