Dealer level diagnostic tools will not see you've flashed. However, if you blow a turbo at 36k miles, they're going to go deeper than dealer level diagnostics. Ask me how I know...

I have no proof but just like the previous poster mentioned when they look deeper they will find something.

It's highly likely that they do some sort of logging at all times on your engine and if certain engine parameters exceed preset maximums I'm sure they would know (ie if boost exceeds a factory set level).

After reading about the other tunes I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer

1. I think mission performance recommended gapping the spark plugs if running stage 2 or anything more aggressive.

- I'm running stage 2 with MGFlasher. Do I need to gap? To what specs? Can one buy ready gapped plugs to that spec

2. BM3 recommended stage one for exhaust burble if you have stock hardware

- I've set the burbles/aggressiveness to about 3 or 4.

What exactly is happening? Ie engine, turbo, exhaust etc etc

Is there any downside or potential harm if for example everything set to maximum? And why?

If you flash stock map for dealer service, and your car has mppsk, is the stock map the mppsk map?

It seems to back up your current ecu so if you have mppsk it should back up that.

No, you don't need to backup the ECU software, it is only required in specific situations - we will remove this option with next MG Flasher update.

So if you have MPPSK and flash back to stock, it retains the MPPSK flash???

Correct, the stock map is always the original software identified at first connection and "Check for support" and is downloaded and stored in your device and our back end/servers according with your VIN nr.

Yes, the software is identical level and same calibration version as is detected in individual car, our database contains every single version of possible software calibration and newest level.

Any idea if the tune would work on the new X7 (G07) 40i which uses the B58 engine?

I am running MGflasher stage 2 - Completely stock car (340i) with just a downpipe, an getting 11.85 sec 1/4 mile on stock RFT's. What this tells me is that stock plug gap could be sufficient.

Regarding burbles, i have a DP so i can turn it up and down no problem. With stock car, the only downside that i can think of is that CAT is right there next to the turbo, so you may see higher EGT's.

MG Flasher and Warranty Question

MG Flasher states....

"Rest assured, our JR Auto Performance software is designed to keep your CVN (Checksum Verification Number) and flash counter untouched. This means our software will be virtually invisible to dealer level diagnostic tools."

Should the vehicle require a remote session with BMW Techs (such as my situation after dealer firmware update did not complete) - will their software detect that a flash was done?

This is important for those who are concerned about potential issue with warranty after a Flash - you should be 100% transparent about whether Flash is detectable at any level of diagnosis, not just Dealer-level.

It's not my intent to be accusatory, I believe there should be full disclosure so we understand whether they may be a risk if BMW itself has to do a diagnostic.

Jarek, looking forward to your reply.
