Cup 2's, How Long Are They Lasting You?
I pretty much finished off my Hankook R-S4's this past weekend (5th weekend on them) and am thinking about what tires to get next. I've been eyeing Cup 2's and was wondering what kind of life you guys are seeing out of them (track only, as I won't be driving those tires around on the street).
If I had been wiser and flipped the R-S4's on the rim after the 3rd event I probably could've made them last another 2 weekends, since it was mainly the outer shoulders that were gone and starting to chunk. I wouldn't mind going with R-S4's again, but kind of want to see what else might be good to try and have a decent lifetime. |

A bud just trashed his in one track day. He had them heat cycled and they were still trash after the first event. He went to the 2nd event a month later and struggled because he was basically on ice skates. He went to 71R's.

You're wearing out the outer shoulders of the RS4? Does your front require more camber? |

All 3 of my tread blocks on the R-S4s show more wear (less height) towards the outside edge. Ideally I'd get more negative front camber (sitting at about -1.6/-1.7deg with camber bushings), but that's about as far as I can get without resorting to camber plates (which I'm not willing to deal with the extra NVH for other types of driving I do). Thinking about NT01s now...

Just this morning I ordered a set of R-S4s since I have a couple weekends coming up. What size did you run?
After all my research it was pretty conclusive that the RS4 has the best life to performance balance in the segment, so I'll definitely be following your suggestion having them flipped after a few days. I have -1.9 up front so I don't expect a big difference in wear to yours.

Haha, we'll have the exact same setup then. I was contemplating moving up to 255 PS4S previously and had been comparing the two. They use a 9" wheel to measure the PS and 8.5" for the R-S4, even with that disadvantage they still measure wider. Talk about beefy. Thanks!

Thanks! I'm planning on pulling the trigger on them tomorrow.
