My car caught on fire last night...

And it was pretty bad. No idea what caused it, started in the passenger head light area. Funny thing, the car restarted on its own while they were putting the fire out. And the driver headlight won't turn off.

Well I'm sorry this happened to you and I'm glad you are okay thankfully. I wonder if they'll be able to diagnose what happened? This would be under insurance though correct?

That's a sad sight.

Original headlights and equipment? Definitely unusual, and glad you're safe.

Wow sorry to hear. Any mods done to the car or electrical modifications?

Garage List
So OP,

1). Thinking down the line, what will you replace it with? Another 335/6 or 340/6?
2). Must be manual?
3). Headlight still on?
4). Glad you aren’t well done.

I'm inclined to think the fault occurred in the fuse box. Whether your mods were responsible you may never know.

Holy shit! How long was she parked beforehand? My mind goes straight to arson / intentional destruction . Any enemies in the neighborhood?

A b58 powered car would be excellent, but I'm not to sure. Gonna sort ot the insurance before looking too much into another.

Can't see how. Not saying you're not correct but it did start by the headlight. I only had bolt ons and a tune.

Blower motor or passenger headlight are my suspects given my lengthy lack of arson investigation experience.

It definitely looks like around the headlight. This is the HID headlight?

Sorry about your loss..

I second that it's the headlights that started the fire..

The photo of the functioning highlight does have a lot of glare, did you code it to increase the brightness of the rings?

Looks like a halogen housing with an aftermarket light. Pic is small but the glare is typical of a setup like this.

2013 335i build date 10/12.

Again, these are stock HID BMW head lights. No modding or coding to them. Car has basic bolt ons and a tune.

I'm not blaming you, I don't know if you bought the vehicle used but in the US, the front amber side markers are mandatory and are illuminated from the factory; someone coded them out apparently.

At least that's the way it looks from the grainy photo.. I apologize in advance if I'm mistaken..

Did you replace bulbs?

EDIT: As you've only had for 4 months, obviously a lot you don't know about car's history. Did you purchase from Dealer or Individual?

I do have to say you are taking it well.

Good attitude. Material things can be replaced.

As he's only had for 4 months, he might be "burned" on the idea of another BMW.

Sorry...had to...

Sorry to see the car being lost to unexpected fire. Glad you are OK.

It's always helpful to not let a good crisis go to waste. There are many great cars waiting for your purchase decision.

It's the headlight; look at the point of origin and it's pretty clear where the fire started.

Sucks for the OP but he's not negligent since he bought his vehicle used.

So he'll be good until the insurance claim is completed..
