If you told me this in 2010 I would have believed it.
in 2019 BMW strikes me as a brand that is long gone. I don't think they have it in them.

It's probably doable for BMW, but releasing a supercar under the BMW brand might lead to similar results with the LEXUS LFA. They might need to do what VW does and have entire sub brands such as Lamborghini, Porsche, etc.
They could use the Rolls Royce brand to release this performance supercar but that might alter the brand image for Rolls. Who knows though. Anything is possible. If they do end up releasing this concept I hope it's successful because BMW is a great car company.

I could see this being a "successor" to the I8 not an actual evolution of the chassis but something in the same spirit of being a design and technology demonstrator... but in this instance it would be demonstrating BMWs take on the fusion of supercar level high performance , electrification, and luxury... thinking xdrive S58 powered with electric hybrid assist or an M designed update on the 3 electric motor + combustion layout from the I8
we know future M cars are going get some level of hybrid drivetrain so it may be worth the investment introducing on something like this vs a line M model |

🚆 predicting a #bmwturbopower 4 or 6 banger ( please make it a P48 derivative 🙏🏼 )
married to a potent yet semi conservative electric motor ( low end " lack of" torque solution ) in a true CSL release... or the likes of far ahead around the apex...horizon. That will become the new standard in " hybrid " power cars all the way too to bottom. Blended. ⚡️ + gas 💥💥💥🏎🏎🏎 One footnote: BMW should REALLY go back and look hard at why the e30 M3 platform was so amazingly successful both in its time and even today on tracks near you. Yes you invented the M2 and now M2C. It's still not enough. Get it lighter. Get it righter. Study it and listen to us .. the ultimate end users. What do we want ? Yes, M3 station wagons aside... of course we ALSO want e30 M3 lightness prowess and handling ... but with today's power plants. Dear BMW, please Make us a car again that is that collectible. I mean, Isn't it time ? Perhaps take direct cues from the P 918 car It's kind of Simple to please us so go ahead ! 🔥

I don't see this ever being under any real consideration. Management at BMW will play it safe as profit has been heavily trumping passion there for some time now. Pretty sad when your two main competitors compete in the super/hypercar market... they certainly didn't need the brand exposure.
I would love to be wrong on this, I really would. Give the people what they want! |

Pointless, ice is on it's final straw, stop wasting time and resources and let's build a EV division, the i3 was a good start, everything since then have been a waste of time!

I basically want an i8 M please thanks.
Stick in a 4cylinder with 500 ish HP that we know BmW has developed already and up the hybrid power to 200ish. Sequential dogbox gear changer. Id also love to see an i8 chassis with an HP4 race screaming at high revs paired with a big hybrid system. Personally I love the i8, but I think we all want the M version that is less eco focused with tires and hybrid power delivery. Shorten the range un increase KERS. Also, the suspension is aimed at GT not track work. Do it BMW and match it with a nice DPi program. Hypercars are cool but nobody really cares that much because they are so out of reach and hardly better performers than GT3 cars. |

And you aren't the only one saying this....They are getting farther and farther away from what they used to be. It's too bad.
