Swapping F series seats with M Series

Will F80/F82 (M3/M4) front seats plug into a corresponding F30/F32 without modification of plugs?

Will they throw an error code?

What about rear seats F80>F30 and F82>F32?

Assume they would be cross compatiable, but you know what is said by assuming.

Has anyone done it?

Thanks.

That's what I get for using search instead of my eyes.

Was really more focused on F80 > F30, so didn't hit on M4/F32

Interested in doing this myself....sub'd

Hell, I'll take ANY sport seat over these shitty base seats; leather or not they suck! No support at all and forget spirited driving in them!

i've heard that M4 seats work on 4 series but not 3 series
(and assuming M3 seats work in 3 series only)
for some reason, there were more M4 seats available for sale than M3 seats so someone tried it and found out the hard way that it didn't work

someone correct me if i am wrong
but that is what I heard from someone who put M4 seats into his 4GC

That's a no brainer.

Coupe seats have to tilt forward for access to rear seats.

Sedan seats don't tilt.

That's why I was very careful with my wording in Post #1.

Then again, even though a no brainer, it doesn't hurt to remind people.

well, i installed e46 M3 seats (coupe seats) into my e46 sedan
and everything plugged in and worked

and it's really not that big of a deal putting coupe seats into a sedan
it's just the other way around that cannot work (sedan seats which cannot quick fold in a coupe)

but i think the f8x M4 seats actually do not work when plugged into a sedan
that's what i remember being told

Congrats. You just contradicted yourself in back to back sentences

Because Sedan seats DON'T FOLD FOWARD TO ALLOW REAR PASSENGER TO ENTER THROUGH FRONT DOOR.

...
i'm very confused

i AGREE with you
but i don't know what you're pointing to as "contradiction"

I had e46 sedan
I installed e46 M3 coupe seats into my sedan

photo of my sedan with the m3 coupe seats
yes, they still quick fold ... but that didn't matter
the power seats worked fine. everything plugged in

had i put sedan seats into a coupe....... that wouldn't work
we agree on this

so where is the contradiction?

now
f8x M4 coupe seats
they do not plug into the f30 sedan properly
so do not put M4 coupe seats into f30 sedan

...
so where was the contradiction?

^^ ROFLMAO!!!! Cool but a bit freaky! Hell, I'm so desperate for better seats, I'm looking at the 2-series coupe seats myself now. Might actually make for a good feature since I always put my PC bag behind the drivers seat!

heh
honestly, i pretty much forgot about the quick fold function
and no one ever noticed that the sedan had coupe front seats because the quick fold handle was mostly hidden by the pillar area

but i did find it useful from time to time to be able to fold the seat forward

Hello I need some help plesse🙏🏻

I swapped my f32 seats with m4 ones and I don't have my old seats anymore so now I have the restrain malfunction code at the dashboard and is really annoying so at this point I don't have my original air bags or seat module. Can someone tell me what can I do now or put me in contact with a good coder please
