Just copy the downloaded zip file and place it on a clean usb stick. Attach the usb and turn the car on. The android will automatically detect the update file and prompt to install. It takes some time then reboots. You will not loose any of your data or settings.
As for the mcu upgrade. Copy the zip file without renaming it to a clean usb stick. Here you will have to choose to update manually from system settings. Just press MCU upgrade. |

Thanks for that, I'll check my versions and if they are older I will update it. Could this be the problem for the garbled screen, I can't locate it square in the plug as there is a bit of a plastic type stubb stopping it. |

i have the same hardware but from a different oem, i also got a new mcu file but since i fixed my dashboard with a new apk im not very keen to update the mcu.
https://allthingscitrix.com/415144bL..._mcuupdate.bin i sent my mcu to analze to but __fred__ but did not get a resonse yet. would be nice to be able to compare our mcus. @zimasha: the image that you posted is the same i posted earlier, where did you buy the hu from and did the seller supply you with the download? looks like our mcus shoud be cross-compatible sind they use the same system firmware and are bot nbt systems Last edited by marakeh; 08-27-2019 at 03:11 PM.. |

Finally managed to get the connection in square, it has got rid of the garbled screen but I now have a 'No Signal' message on the BMW side, I'm guessing yet more connection issues somewhere in the line.

For the next 7 Days Snapdragon Android 9.0 Update will be available here.
This file contains 9.0 OTA 2.4.5 and Factory_config.xml for BMW E90 Series Snapdragon 625 with 2GB RAM for CIC from GS. Probably also working for other Snapdragon HU`s , use at our own risk. Chri Last edited by Kri; 08-29-2019 at 10:47 AM.. |

My Buddy got his Snapdragon 4GB version today, he tried to install this image, but is wasn`t working, it found the OTA file but aborted the installation. At the moment i try to root it again. (removed it from the car yesterday and have it on my Desk again). But somehow with 2.4.5 rooting does not work like i did it with 2.0.5 :/ Also ADB over USB does not work anymore, i`m working via wireless at the moment. i hope i find a way soon. Chri |

I'd still go for the Snapdragon model I think. The PX6 boards are of last gen. |

In my country , no way to avoid customs tax if product comes from China with DHL. I will guess , tax and commissioning fees for DHL(without transportation) will be somewhere at 30% or more.
Snapdragon unit from Andream(4+64), EU stock is about 400 Euros, free shipping with DHL - so no aditional tax because comes from Europe . |

I got root now working with Android for Snapdragon 625 OTA 2.4.5 and it`s pretty the same thing as with Android 8. Anyways as i had my troubles with the Android 8 guide, i explain it again i hope its more understandable i have not tested this on PX6 with Android 9, since PX6 Android uses the "old" folder structure it may not work with them, so feedback would be good if someone will test it. I tried this method on 2GB and 4 GB Version of E Series Android (manufacturer GS) It seems that the Snapdragon units are already rooted and wireless adb activated, so you only need to change the System from Read only to Read/write. This method is for Windows users. EDIT: New more simple method for root/su with automatic Batch file can be found HERE ! 1* Download ADB from Google site here Unpack it open a command windows and go into this folder, in my case i have it at d:\ADB 2* Your Android HU has to be at the same local Network (wlan) as the computer. check the IP Adress of the Android HU under Wireless settings -> Advanced. in my case its 192.168.0.11, so i use this for further steps 3* now you can connect to the HU via ADB via , using your IP, in my case it`s 192.168.0.11 , please add the :5555. Code:
D:\adb>adb connect 192.168.0.11:5555 when you get a "connected to 192.168.0.11:5555" message you can proceed. 4* now enter the following three lines, the HU will reboot after this Code:
adb root adb disable-verity adb reboot now enter the following three lines ( Code:
adb connect 192.168.0.11:5555 adb root adb remount thats all you need, now you can access the system with root access. you can try either with "adb shell" renaming/moving/overwriting system files, or what i like best, with Total Commander and ADB Plugin There are serval things to note of * while you had permanent Root of ADB on Android 8 you don`t have it on Android 9. Every time you reboot the device you need to remount your partition again, this is looking like this Code:
D:\adb>adb connect 192.168.0.11:5555 connected to 192.168.0.11:5555 D:\adb>adb root D:\adb>adb remount remount succeeded D:\adb>adb shell msm8953_64:/ # * you can not move files directly from your Windows PC into a System folder, you need to copy them first to a User folder like "SDCARD" on the Android HU and from there you can copy the file then to the target directory. *Android 9 for PX6 has the KSW Apps at the OEM folder while *Android 9 for Snapdragon has the KSW Apps at the System/App folder. * if you want to have root access within Android apps you need to install SU via ADB like on Android 8. To do so download adb_su.zip and unzip it directly to your ADB folder. This SuperSU bin64 is from here including the rooting.rc file. Code:
# adb connect "device_ip" # adb root # adb connect "device_ip" # adb remount # adb shell setenforce 0 # adb push su /system/xbin/su # adb push su /system/bin/su # adb shell chmod 06755 /system/bin/su # adb shell chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su # adb shell /system/bin/su --install # adb shell /system/bin/su --daemon& # adb push rooting.rc /system/etc/init/rooting.rc reboot your device with "adb reboot" now your apps should be able have Root access. You don`t need to install SU from Store or anything else. Wow a long post, but i hope all is explaind , at least it should work without any trouble. And as always everything you do is at your own risk Chri Last edited by Kri; 06-07-2020 at 02:44 PM.. |

If I had to order again I would order directly from china, they usually set the item value as low as possible to make tax smaller and shipping takes 3 days with DHL. If someone is selling an unit cheaper than the chinese in EU,something shady going on there. |

Great job , Chri. Congrats !
Can't wait to play with this . Unfortunately I have to wait another month and half to return from overseas and purchase the unit. |

Andream (Eway) is a big seller (I think is maker too) and has stocks in Europe . And I have mentioned before that I prefer their implementation with separate connections box for overheat avoiding . Support is not so great , but I cross my fingers and learn to fix these suckers. Price in China is even lower now for similar units , but I don't want to pay customs taxes and get involved with DHL commissioning which is a pain in the ass in my country . I fought a few times with them and I hate them. |
