BMW F30 02/2012 – 11/2012 = CIC
BMW F30 11/2012 – 07/2015 = NBT

My car is a 2013 but has an 8/12 build date and based on screenshots is CIC. I need to know if these units will work ( some list CIC, some dont ) and they all look the same.

Sorry, I can't confirm. Mine is NBT and it was very simple plug and play. I would say just message the seller. They ship pretty fast so if they end up sending you the wrong wiring you can probably get the correct. The unit in the system settings has settings for CIC so it should be the same unit just different harness to accommodate CIC LVSD plugs.

Just gotta wait for it all to arrive now.

Yes it is carplay, and there is no dongle I added both the wireless carplay and built-in carplay in my order. Here is My order:

which unit are people using for upgrading in the uk?
I have the base system at the moment in my f32 2014 with dab and nav but the 6.5" useless screen and to be honest the nav is also real crap, showing petrol stations that were knocked down like 4 years before the car was built!

Yes, this is a picture of a Snapdragon 4-64 unit. Some units has it located on the other side.

I just successfully completed permanent root with Magisk, Xposed and Lucky Patcher on Android 9 Snapdragon 625 using adb without flashing device by this modified and mostly already published procedure:

Connect the unit to the same WiFi network as the PC.
On Head Unit, install Terminal Emulator from the Google Store.
Expand and copy the Platform-tools directory from the "platform-tools_r28.0.0-windows.zip" file to the PC root directory
On PC, copy "su" to the Platform-tools directory.
On PC, copy "rooting.rc" to the Platform-tools directory.
Copy "MagiskManager-v7.3.4.apk", "XposedInstaller_by_dvdandroid_19_10_18.apk" and "Lucky-Patcher-Official-8.4.6.apk" to USB stick

On UNIT:
Enable Developer options, -> disable USBdebug -> enable USBdebug

run Terminal Emulator and enter following commands:
setprop persist.adb.tcp.port 5555
setprop sys.rkadb.root 1
reboot

After restarting unit go to
Developer options again, -> disable USBdebug -> enable USBdebug.

run Terminal Emulator and enter:
ifconfig wlan0 !!! remember lan address !!!

On PC:
run Command line in Platform-tools directory.
in Command line enter:

adb connect 192.168.x.xxx:5555 (fill in the remembered address)
adb root
adb disable-verity
adb reboot

On UNIT:
Developer options -> disable USBdebug -> enable USBdebug
run Terminal Emulator and enter:
ifconfig wlan0 !!! remember lan address !!!

On PC
in Command line enter commands:

adb kill-server
adb connect 192.168.x.xxx:5555 (fill in the remembered address)
adb root
adb remount
adb shell setenforce 0
adb push su /system/xbin/su

From USB, install "MagiskManager-v7.3.4.apk" on UNIT and run it, install Magisk - chose Direct install(recomended).
Next Go to Menu -> Downloads, search and install module Riru-Core -> reboot
After restarting unit run Magisk Manager again, go to Menu -> Downloads, search and install module Riru-EdXdposed -> reboot
Install "XposedInstaller_by_dvdandroid_19_10_18.apk" from USB -> reboot
From USB install "Lucky-Patcher-Official-8.4.6.apk", run Xposed Installer and check Lucky Patcher in Menu -> Modules
reboot

Hey I finally installed the sd625 unit yesterday and everything seems to be alright and working.

BUT to the apple carplay users out there: which apk do you use for carplay and would you mind sharing it with me? I purchased the carlinkit wireless carplay adapter and both works - wired and wireless - but only touch and the idrive does nothing when within carplay. But I really want the idrive to work like in other BMW's as my screen is far away from me and touching while driving is crazy dangerous.
The app they provided is called "Autokit" and you can download it from here: http://121.40.123.198:8080/autokit/autokit.apk . I was wondering now if I need a different adapter or just a different app.

Which wireless carplay dongles do you guys have, which apk's and which is supporting the idrive controller?

I'm new to BMW's, I've got a 2012 320i with the small screen so no com box etc. The seller says all I need is a working aux port for this head unit to work, is that correct? I've read several adverts for different adverts which have head units available for 2012 - 2017 F30's but to my knowledge there isn't any difference between the 2012 and 2013 model?

Both USB ports of the unit are OTG, so jb4 is connected by BMS cable. I have MHD flasher installed too, for flashing backend flash I connect it to second USB after disconnecting jB4 from OBD port. It is worse with bootmod3, the application can be installed, but there is a need to connect the OBD WiFi Agent to the OBD and connect to the unit via WiFi. It is quite uncomfortable and after a lot of dynos I finally stayed with jB4 with backend flash anyway. bootmod3 is sold and MHD Stage2+ maps maps are not used.

Could not update my unit from USB drive, had to copy update file to internal storage.
The only difference I see coming from 2.4.5, some navigation app in Chinese and Waze is added to NAVI API selection.

Im in the same boat as you ( CIC 8/12 build date ) 2013 car, The safest thing to do ( WHAT IM DOING ) is to open my dash and physically confirm.

Because it appears if you just tell them if its 4 or 6 pin they will be sure to send the correct cable.. Im almost positive we will both be 4 pin but I dont want any surprises..
