New Turbo Kit for our car

There is a new turbo kit for the B58 engine from DOCRACE. This turbo kit looks very promising. The car is running an EFR9176 turbo with internal wastegate, Dorch stage 1 hpfp and meth kit. It made 662whp and 572wtq! John the owner is aiming for 800whp with a better hpfp perhaps. The price for this turbo kit is $6k! what do you think?

Are they going to add any plumbing/filter for the compressor inlet?

I'm not sure. Looks like there is a mesh in placed.

He's been sharing pics on instagram for the past few months. It'll be more streetable with a filter but the turbo guard is a good alternative. It'll just be a while before we can see the full potential. Port injection is a must.

$6k is a hard pill to swallow, but it'll be higher quality than any other kit on the market.

662whp for 6k seems pretty expensive especially using meth as well as upgraded hpfp. Guys are getting 600whp on pump gas only with just pure 800 and hpfp upgrade which is less than half the cost.

Yeah $6k is a little steep. I'm wondering if he sells the manifold alone.

I agree! I think mid $4k is doable for most.

The EFR turbos are very nice and I applaud the effort.
What are they doing for a downpipe?

He does for every other car, so I can't imagine why he wouldn't. He also sells a hot parts kit for the N54, so you can use any turbo you want.

This is a 800+whp setup. And the pure turbo guys capped out around 560-580whp with the fuel pump. They used meth to get over 600.

Hybrid turbos will never beat a proper big turbo setup. They aren't efficient, power/torque is peaky, and it has way less headroom. This kit at 600whp will be faster than a pure turbo while running less boost, because the area under the curve will be bigger. And it'll be easier to put down higher hp levels because boost is more progressive. Not to mention BorgWarner EFR turbos are freaking bulletproof.

I think people are forgetting that some of this is custom fabrication. Pure is simply replacing the stock turbo in its STOCK LOCATION. Hell, even with stock housing as it's a hybrid. Doc Race had to design, engineer, and execute a new manifold for it to be top mount so you can wave your big dick turbo around at Cars & Coffee. What other top mount kits are there for the B58?

Lol, I feel like you guys haven't done big turbo kits before. Big boost's kit is $5k with a stubby cast manifold and cheap journal bearing turbo that's twice as hard to install. I mean I'm cheap, but I see the value. There's an $1K+ difference in the turbos alone.

So John isn't a forum member here? Would be good to get him on here to do an AMA on driving impressions. I'm curious about turbo spool time and how this kit impacts daily drivability.

People drop way more for proper big single setups for the N54. Not seeing the fuss here over pricing.
