I guess I'm not sure what to say. Did you even read this thread?
Go to the xHP website and read their description of the tune benefits. If you have a specific question after that, post it here.

Well the dark side is definitely calling to me... I did actually send a few questions over to XHP Re: The trans tune and got some responses.
In response to my question "Are the stage 2 changes all still within safe parameters for the stock transmission?", XHP responded with the following: "We do raise line pressures for faster shifting and the ability to run more torque with your tuner. Because the shifts are faster, there is less slip on the clutches and therefore less wear. This is all in safe parameters of the transmission. " It seems they are stating that the trans tune would in fact provide LESS wear than a stock tranny tune. Now this seems kinda counterintuitive to me, since my impression would be that increasing line pressure would increase wear on the transmission. Am I right in this or am I missing something that would make their statement correct? Would the act of faster shifts actually somehow be better for the trans than stock? |

You are only missing the fact that you are asking a seller to point out the downsides of his product.... how likely did you think that was?
Even if the above has an element of truth, what about excess pressure, excess temperature, oil degradation, etc.? Always read between the lines and mainly research user experience and especially those who have used it for some time. Appears that there are not many complaints, but I have not researched too much personally as it is not (yet) on my to-do.

Slip is bad > shorter lifespan
Higher pressure > could wear out pump etc earlier but the requested load might be inside specification You have to keep in mind that there are many ZF8 variants out there and all others have higher torque limits and hardware changes will be kept to a minimum. So the pump , lines could be the same as in a higher rated unit Just look at the feedback of the guy with his 35d and the transmission worked just fine for many miles with sky high torque |

So with the torque limiter being reduced to 1000, does this mean my car is going to be more torquey? Sorry if it’s a stupid question, just no input on that everywhere I’ve read.
Also for the launch control being more aggressive, could I tune the launch control to a point where it’s less than stock? Whenever I try launch control I just spin for 3 seconds, before gripping hard. Thus my launch control is useless right now even on brand new Michelin sport A/S 3+. RWD, running MHD stage 2 with downpipe and intake. |

The explanation I got was that with the OEM map on the transmission there's a torque limiter in 3 and 6 gear. Why in those I don't know. That's removed with xHP. Then there's a torque limiter on the gearbox in general. As I recall it, it is at 640nm on the 8HP50. If the engine delivers more than that the transmission will tell the engine to cut back. That limit is by xHP software changed to 1000nm. In my case I will get full use of the 750nm the engine can deliver and not just the 640nm from factory map

ZF8HP50 has 550 Nm torque limit in all 8 gears. The 6 speed has lower limits in 3 and 6.
Stage 2 tunes can go over the 550 Nm limit, so either the tuner needs to send an altered torque value to the transmission, resulting in more slip in clutches and reduced effective torque transfer, or send correct value and use xHP to raise limits. |

Alright well that’s good to know! Since MHD does have option for xHP I’m definitely convinced to get this now. Should come in real useful when I upgrade my turbo as well.

Nah not yet. I need to figure out what Android device to get. If I can find a cheap Android tablet I would go that route. I hear IPhone support is nearing too though, so I may just wait.

will the increase in line pressure not cause any tranny problems, or is this within the limits, if i would go for the xhp i would choose stage 2 only .

I've been using it since it came out, as long as transmission is serviced during its recommended intervals your fine. XHP sets up the maps to be safe, we are allowed to create custom maps which in turn can bring more wear and tear but we are warned in advance and those are extreme values.
