Any LL04 will do. Most use Castrol edge 0w30

I use this, brilliant stuff.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELF-5w-30...72.m2749.l2649

I change it every 8-10k on the B47.

That will give you 4 changes, BMW will sell you 4 oem filters for £40 too.

So £90 for 4 oil changes.

Ash soot levels seem a lot better with that than the Castrol stuff.
However, I have been using Archoil additive as well, so can't be certain it is the oil.

Apparently the normal castrol edge 0w30 is no longer categorised by bmw as LL04.

You need the Castrol Edge M.

Sorry to jump in.

Has anyone provided their own parts to the dealer (as obviously they can be bought cheaper than bmws inflated price)

I only serviced in November and now it needs a major so trying to keep costs down. I'm sure OEM oil, filter, fuel filter, microfilter and air filter plus labour is surely less than £450.

Halfords us £250 but I'm not keen to go down that route, although once the car is 3 servicing will be fine by a friend who owns a garage. I'm out of warranty in October.
