Not a lot of new info but I brushed up the VTT section and added a few other things. Let me know if I'm missing any info you want added.

Thanks Chris. Do you see anything I should add or update in the VTT section of the first post of this thread?

An interesting version of the turbine. Cars like RS6/RS7 on their turbines show good results.

I was wondering about the difference in spool between the Pure 800 and VTT GC. Also in comparison with the stock turbo to get a better understanding about the impact on daily driving when going for an upgraded turbo.
Looking at the dyno graphs below provided by both manufacturers showing the difference between the stock and upgraded turbo, it seems like the VTT GC spools quicker than the Pure 800.

Name: VTT GC.png
Views: 1320
Size: 538.2 KB

Name: Pure 800.png
Views: 1355
Size: 520.9 KB

However it's two different cars, two different tunes, two different dyno's so maybe not the best way to compare.
So I started looking for some logs and found a couple of the Pure 800 and VTT GC that seemed useful.
Similar cars with similar mods and similar starting point/rpm of the logs but still different tuners and unfortunately the GC log is a third gear instead of the others being fourth gear.
I loaded them in Virtual Dyno: 2x Pure 800 (red and green), VTT GC (blue) and a stock turbo (orange) and looked only at the boost graph:

Name: boost vs rpm.png
Views: 1864
Size: 56.0 KB

To my surpise it seems like the Pure 800 has a slightly better spool than the VTT GC, which is not what I expected based on the OP information and also because I thought the Pure 800 has I higher power potential and therefore should have worse spool?
What is clear is that the stock turbo has a much quicker spool.

Then I thought maybe I should not look at boost vs rpm but look at boost vs time. So made an Excel graph based on the same logs using the same colours:

Name: boost vs time.png
Views: 1805
Size: 75.5 KB

In this graph it seems like the VTT GC seems to have a little bit quicker spool than the Pure 800 at least it ramps up quicker after the first second.
Stock turbo still clearly the quickest.

Based on this (not very scientific) comparison I would say there is not much difference in spool between the Pure 800 and VTT GC, which surprises me to be honest.
What do you guys think?
Has anyone experienced both turbos and can shed some light on the situation?

Or should we try to get some logs that a better comparable?
Maybe some of the Pure 800 and VTT GC guys are willing to do a couple of logs on a BM3 or MHD OTS tune in 4th gear starting at 2000 rpm? Just to also take the tune out of the equation?

Nice breakdown. I haven't run GC and Pure both. Andre has run Pure800 and GC+, only person I know who has run Pure and Vargas.

My experience with the Pure800 has been excellent. Any delay in spool is very minor and totally worth it for the gains. I do a lot of streetlight shenanigans and my biggest concern with a larger turbo was that I'd need to do a brakestand to have any kind of decent launch and I'm pleased to say that's definitely not the case.
My only comment is that even with xhp stg3 I still feel like i get my best results from manual mode and paddleshifting because I can stay in the rev ranges for kickdown acceleration.

Thanks for the feedback!

Didn't expect that someone would have tried both turbos on their own car but more like someone has a Pure and tried a friends car with a VTT.
However would also love to hear the feedback on the difference between the Pure 800 and the GC+!

So I contacted Speedtech about whether they are going to produce a kit for the F-series B58 and this was Jeff's reply:

Yes we have a development car working on a B58 kit, but don't have a defined leadtime yet, so we can't speak to that right now. We are excited for that one, as the B58 is an awesome engine straight from the factory... it just needs a bigger turbo!

Regards,

can you get the GC+ right now? I am impulsive and when I'm ready to buy, I hate waiting. I'm also torn between Pure and Vargas right now. I was going to go Bigboost, but the install difficulty and price talked me out of that.

I think you are underestimating the difference in gear on spool. A 3rd gear pull vs a 4th gear pull can alter spool as much as 700RPM. You cannot really compare spool between a 3rd, and 4th gear pull. The GC will outspool the 800 by a long shot in the same gear... Also we are getting new data in from testers on the GC+. Here are some 60-130's and 100-200's from a GC+ car.

Many people do not understand how we test things. That one GC+ unit was shipped out as a TEST unit. We tell, and told this tester, PUSH it until it breaks. He asked how far as I said as far as you can. Paul was pushing more than 40PSI on the turbo. THIS is how you find the limits of things, you push them well past what they are designed to run, and see what fails. We got the unit back, inspected it, and it was exactly as we assumed, Overspeed, and thrust failure from simply pushing it way past its surge line, and RPM limit. Now we know where to set the boost recommendation for the unit. The tester was sent another unit at no cost and was told to keep it under 35psi.
