Dealer warranty with mods
Hey guys, it’s been a couple months since i got my F30 and I would like to put lowring springs on it, my only concern is how to deal with the manufacturer/dealer in case something not related to suspension goes wrong. Will that void my dealer warranty?

This all depends on your dealer. BMW of Fort Myers tried to deny many of my warranty issues because of mod's that actually had no relation to the reason why I needed warranty work done.. Then I went to Germain BMW of Naples, and they didn't care at all and would work on my car regardless of mods..

How many miles does your car have? When is the warranty expiring? Is the vehicle xDrive or RWD?
Lowering springs do not attract much attention, unless of course the dealer believes the lowering springs may have played a role in a component failure: typically _anything_ in the suspension ecosystem and sometimes drivetrain as well. If the warranty is about to expire, the decision is simpler. I suggest to match lowering springs with shocks designed for shorter springs. Or - consider coilovers. |

Approximately how much quicker will the stock shocks with lowering springs would wear compared to leaving the stock springs? My main issue with coilovers is that they are much more expensive than only springs. Thanks man! |

FoxtrotF30, it's difficult to say how much quicker the stock shocks will wear out with lowering springs. It ultimately depends on road conditions and driving habits.
If your car is no longer under warranty, all options are open. Warranty extensions typically do not cover wear and tear items. Please read the contract carefully. |
