Not good enough. I said it had to be the names of the Wingerworth folk on here.

Recently finding my great Grandad's ribbons from WW2.

I never met him but thankful to have something that he wore with pride. His medals are split between his children and we haven't spoke in over 20 years due to messy will when my great nan passed.

When my mum passed a year or so ago we were clearing out her stuff and found my great uncles entire navy life story from WW1 , which is now on display at the Navy Museum in Portsmouth as it was too concise to put back into storage. Turns out he was wounded at Galipoli and died in the military hospital in Malta.

The letters under the medals were the hand written originals from 1915 and came from his time fighting at Galipoli and from his hospital bed in Malta.

We also found a silver family christening mug from 1773 but that is another story.

Similar to ours - modern, clean lines, and most importantly low maintenance! I want to sit in my garden drinking beer, not waste energy fluffing my shrubbery

Exactly , ours is a south facing suntrap with minimal intrusion from the wind with the hedge on one side and the garage on the other. Dont mind doing the work and spending the ££ if we will be getting the benefit , just need the weather to play ball this year.

Looks like your grandfather served in the Highland Light Infantry? It was actually the 'Assaye' on the Regimental badge that I spotted - only three British Regiments wore that after they fought under Wellington in the Battle of Assaye in India in 1803. The 74th Highland Regiment of Foot was one of them, and subsequently became the HLI.

My grandfather was from Lairg in Sutherland, and fought with the Scots Greys at Ypres - in fact the Greys were at the second battle of Ypres along with the Highland Light Infantry. He was wounded badly at Cambrai in 1917 and sent home. He was one of five brothers, all of whom made it back from the war unusually.

My grandfather lived with us towards the end of his life, but I only have vague memories of him as I think I was about 6 or 7 when he died. I remember him as being tall, gaunt and rather stern.

Sadly we have nothing of his war memorabilia or medals - my parents' house was burgled in the late 80's and amongst other things a box containing all my grandfather's medals, service records and other mementos was stolen.

You and Kendo67 should treasure & preserve these things - timely reminders of a generation that thought nothing of sacrificing everything for others...

Indeed, it's funny as he lived in Warrington all of his life but served with a Scottish regiment. I would love to see his other medals but that will never happen with the state of the family that's left.

Sorry to here about the medals etc being stolen, similar thing happened to my great nan a couple of years before she passed.

Adding another uplifting picture from my library.

This is from our Santorini holiday in 2016. It made me smile at the time and still cracks me up.

Been spending a good few hours with the dog wandering around the local course (Ralston) and what a lovely place to spend some quiet time , not given me inclination to take up golf but the hound is loving exploring his new territory.

Uplifting for me anyway! First ever 100% homemade pizza! made the dough and every ingredient bar the san marzano tinned tomato's for the base (and the cheese!). Chargrilled red/green pepper, onion and chicken, some diced chorizo topped off with lacto free mature cheddar so The missus who avoids dairy/lactose could have her first pizza in years. It was bloody epic, nicest pizza I've eaten in ages, I was soooo worried it would be crap! New oven and pizza stone ftw!
