Swift springs on f30 w/stock EDC
After a lot of research I have decided to drop my F30 335i on some Swift R springs paired with my stock EDC suspension and I couldn't be happier! These are very popular among the F80 owners so I decided to pull the trigger and do it. I also didn't see to many post of pics for F30s dropped on them so I've added some before and after pics! As for the ride quality.... It's how these cars should have came from the factory! Body roll has decreased significantly and taking corners and turns is super tight! It's just as comfortable as my stock springs if not better. It just feels more refined and the EDC handles it very well! Once it settles I can update with exact drop specs but the back dropped about a quarter inch and the front should be an inch. Compared to my buddies car with the h&r sports I would choose Swift all day.

Curious how these would work out on an xDrive. My calculations suggest that it would lower an xDrive about 10mm more in front than a RWD, with roughly the same drop in back. I wonder if we could throw a 10mm isolator between the spring and bearing up front to even it out.. I loved the Swift/B8 combo I had on my Z.

Front drop should be lower than the 335 swifts since the f80 is lower on OE |

Sorry, I'm confused. Are you using the Swift Spec-R (p/n 4X915R) lowering springs with BC dampers? Or OTS Swift coilover springs on the BCs? I'm hoping for info on the 4X915R springs/xDrive combo, though I'll never turn down a pic of someone's mods

Here are some pics of my setup...street and pic lapping. Excuse the dirt, it was raining at my last race and the paddock was muddy so...fun.
the lapping setup is 275 wide all round. 3mm spacers in the back and 20mm in the front. I will explain the latter in the next post. there are so many performance mods that would give the car more of competitive edge but for some bizarre reason I want some bright orange or yellow calipers! The performance benefit is almost nil in autox...and yet I'm obsessed with doing this mod...I understand what suffering in silence means. Last edited by brigade24; 06-30-2020 at 09:09 PM.. Ok, the 275s will fit all round but you will need to camber in, you will need a spacer (10mm minimum) for the front and you MUST NOT run an 8"inch spring in front, run a 7" spring and you'll be golden...pic #2 is with a 15mm spacer and pic#3 is with a 20mm spacer. I still need to camber in so the tires will not stick out...i hope.
the last two pics are my front alignment markings and rear spring setup. That alignment marking needs to be rotated 540 degrees so that the yellow marking faces the rear of the car. doing that will induce a toe out condition of about 1/16th (total), maybe slightly less...this must be done on both sides before every race. |
