Solved - 2016 F30 340i HK/HiFi Audio - Crackle & Static Sounds Over Speakers
Just wanted to share my findings on tracing the source of some crackle & popping noises coming through the speakers of the car across all audio sources (BT, Radio, Sat). First, I tried a couple of quick things to resolve this that did not help: 1) Update software, 2) Reboot iDrive.
The next step I tried was to source a replacement AMP (65-12-9-390-142) and swapped it out but no luck, the sounds continued after I reconnected everything and started the car. There was one other component that controls the Active Sound Design (65-12-9-398-997) features. After disconnecting the unit, the sounds stopped and everything worked normally. I replaced this unit and everything is working great. Hopefully this can help others quickly identify and correct the issue. I've read other threads that contributed similar symptoms to BT connectivity issues, but this was not the case for me. Last edited by wreeves11002; 07-30-2020 at 10:22 AM.. |

Sorry to hear about so much pain and cost to isolate this issue. Another reason to get rid off the ASD for good. Now, try to disconnect or just code out the ASD and you should notice the improvement in sound quality of your audio... (as it will play only music, and not the fake engine sounds at the same time)
