So it's not advised to flash the custom firmware for the newer B units?

Hi,
Just wanted to what a great job you’ve done! One thing I’ve noticed today after installing the custom firmware v2 to my Mini, the volume for the navigation is low. When I go to increase it when the Navigation is talking, it increases everything including the radio via the Tunein app. This then makes the radio too loud. I’ve tried setting the volume to ‘Loud’ in Google Maps settings but is doesn’t appear to do anything. Any ideas? |

Gemini_pack_bin
This is a great thread. I've ended reading all the CarPlay stuff and gone and purchased and fitted a Road Top version of off Amazon. Very pleased!
Question: I've seen the firmware and MCU upgrades at the beginning of the thread. However none of them work for me. I'ver used the RoadTop NBT versions below v2.1.0.6.lt.b MCU 20.06.02 I get the following message: no Gemini_pack_bin Any ideas? thanks |

I thought that I read last week or so that Andream started adding AA wide-screen support on their new units. Is that not the case?

I don't have the widescreen layout that is shown on page 1. I have an 8.8 in screen. My version is B_V1.0.0, it's possible the B_V1.0.2 has this, but the update didn't work for me. Not sure why but haven't investigated much yet.

Yes the B_v1.0.2 has the widescreen in it, but no dpi fix.

Hey, I'm close to pulling the trigger on one of these MMI add-ons, and I've read through the thread quite a bit, but I want to make sure I've got all the answers I need before making my decision. Vehicle is a 2013 X3 F25 35i, manufacture date 04/2012 with 103K miles, CIC system 8.8", rear and side mirror cameras. MMI device I plan on ordering is a RoadTop model from Amazon, AA usage only.
1. Will there be any issue with the top/overhead parking view, or the side mirror cameras regardless? All documentation I've seen so far only mention front and rear cameras, but nothing about side mirror cameras. 2. Is the additional(?) USB female cable required for install? Can the USB port inside the center console be used for any and all MMI USB connection/functionality? Likewise, am I going to need to run a 3.5mm cable to the aux port in the center console? 3. Do I need to be concerned about any 'widescreen' issues, based on my 8.8" screen size? 4. Is there any additional storage provided by the MMI unit/impacting the CIC storage space? I am researching swapping out the HDD for a possible SD-to-IDE adapter upgrade or similar in the future. 5. *Purely an opinion*, but is there any incentive to spend the extra money on a complete touchscreen replacement android auto upgrade vs just the MMI addition? Is the software/hardware/support for one type of upgrade more stable than the other? That's all I can think of for now, thanks! |

Tested over the course of 1 hour today, 100% calls go over idrive now and not mmi on latest custom firmware on AA. I even see call history in idrive.
Do note, i use latest bimmertech mcu. |

My experience has been the same. Everything works great. I also love being able to use the phone button on the steering wheel and also the auto launch feature and having AA ready to go when I get into my car.

Hi all,
Congratulation to people involved in the development of the new custom V2, wich is a fantastic job. It works fine, and now the auto day/night mode works again in AA, and of course, the new autostart AA feature is great. Quote:

Ah OK. I'm sure I'll get it eventually. I'm happy things are working, was having serious issues the first few days it was installed (cursor issues) but everything works now at least!

Wow, great work!
I can confirm that my phone calls don't go through the MMI. I'm using the Road Top (early) MMI for NBT with wireless AA. It will show that I'm on a phone call (as pictured) but it's not using bluetooth to control the call. BT doesn't show connected to the MMI. edit: photos Last edited by corduroy; 08-04-2020 at 03:51 PM.. |
