B58 (F30) MPPSK install in MD or DC
Hi everybody..
After a long hiatus (relocation, new job and buying my first place), I'm back in the community. And finally hoping to bring back to the front burner the long over due MPPSK upgrade. Spoke to a few dealerships in the DC, Baltimore area today. Getting some ridiculous quotes for install.. 3.5 hrs labour (which roughly equates to $550). Total out the door price is about $3950... I've left a voice mail to two other dealerships, we'll see what they say but gee. What a rip off?!? I've found the official installation instructions in .pdf form. From BMW itself. Including coding, it says one (1) hour. I mean ok make it 2 hrs, at a labor rate of what $140 or something.. So say $300 on labor $2855 on parts with the tips (on getbmwparts). $3,075 should be the price. I know I won't be able to get it down that low more than likely. But wanted to pulse the folks on here for any leads, any insights, any experiences you may have, either on your car directly, or heard through the community/friends on here..etc.. In the greater DC, MD area (i live in Baltimore now) Much appreciated! Kind regards, John K |

Thank you dbright03 for the insights! I know in general retail in CA is def more expensive than the right coast here. Dealers around me here should at a min be able to get me that $3650
And yes i know all about how massive a transformation the the package offers. i've had the car for about 20 months now. Kept putting it off - havent been able to bring myself to cough up the cost (even though i can afford it, just couldnt justify...) But i should just close my eyes, bite the bullet, make peace with it and enjoy the new car. Quote:

FWIW here is what I paid in Chicago 2 years ago. Got the kit online and had my dealer match the price.
$2445 MPPSK $81 for both SS Tips $62 Shipping No Tax My SA agreed to install for 2.5 hours (1 hour exhaust, 1.5 programming) @ $152/hour. My total out the door cost was just under 3K. |

I wouldn't waste your time or money on the MPPK. You can get MHD or BM3 for $600 which gives you VASTLY more power, and then exhaust for another $700-1200 (depending if you want axle back or full back).
The flash you can do in your driveway, the exhaust isn't that hard either to do or have an indy install. I sure wouldn't be spending a $150+/hour to chop a pipe (axle back), or unbolt/bolt a direct fit product (full back). Just saying.... |

Ag3ofShadows that's an incredible price point! Would you be able to maybe share your invoice and/or work authorization form? so i can take it to my local dealership here and shove it up their back...
(although i know what they are going to say.. that it is GA, this is MD.

3.5 hrs labour ?
Update: I've been shopping around dealerships in the DMV area... Best i've gotten so far is $550 in labour (3.5 hrs), and they allow me to order the parts online and mailed to the dealership. (The 340i is my only vehicle. I cant haul the exhaust myself). The SA said this is the worst case estimate. May go a bit quicker, but i shouldnt count on it.
What do you reckon? Decent proposition over all?

I’ve been shopping around dealers and I’m getting quoted up to $1000 just for the labor which is outrages but I keep calling around trying to get more quotes if truly depends on the city and area you live in!
