I swapped out the stock champions for gapped NGKs and that didn't make the slightest difference. The only thing that seems to make SOME difference is using Shell gas. Even then I still have significant timing pull, as do many, many people using the OTS maps without ethanol... I've logged friend's B58s and they have the same pull as you and me... Apparently there's no solution besides using ethanol if you have access to it, or getting a custom tune. |

Yes bro I noticed lately that most logs are not looking good without Ethanol.
But no this is not the normal these engines are designed to run on Gasoline so they shouldn't pull timing when using the correct octane. There are many good logs on this thread running without Ethanol it's just lately logs are not so good maybe it's because of the pandemic fuel companies are messing up adjusting the required octane percentages. Yeah, I'm in the process of getting a custom tune. If you go back a few messages you can see the log from that as well. Was still pulling timing, which is why I flashed stage 1 to see if it was still doing the same thing. My end goal is a custom E50 tune, but I'd still like a 93 tune as well for when it's not around and easily accessible which is why we were working on the 93 tune first.

It is possible to see cracked intake manifold based on logs? My tuner said I have a boost leak. If my boost (pre-throttle) and MAP is the same, then my intake manifold is fine right? The leak should be somewhere pre-throttle? |

Well put the NGK 94201 plugs in gapped to .022, flashed the custom tune back on, reset the octane adaptation and drove around for a bit before logging. Doesn't seem have done anything from what I can tell.
My fuel-it ethanol sensor is reading E10, with the 93. Could that have anything to do with it, although that should give me more room no? Or could they have changed over to crapyy winter blends already? https://datazap.me/u/pauli18c/custom...22-23-24-25-26 Should I flash back to stock and try that?

Bro I really like this 93 Custom tune but with the current IAT it has too much boost for your fuel.
Ask your tuner to adjust the tune so that LOAD REQUIRED is 10% lower across the RPM range and you should get good results. Quote:

Also, what's up with cylinder 1? Why does it keep dropping so much timing comparatively, is that normal? I'll have to get on the phone with the tuner, he's been swamped so taking a few days for him to get back to me the last couple times. Thanks again for the help / insight https://datazap.me/u/pauli18c/custom...&data=14-18-41

When timing is pulled usually it's cylinder 1 that suffers the most, it's been noticed on many logs in this thread.

Two pulls on E22 (98Ron/93Oct + 100% ethanol in fuel tank). It is much more better than one pure 100Ron fuel.
Stock M340i xDrive. Timing is really cool if i understand it right. https://datazap.me/u/denysbmw/m340i-...-26-27&solo=22 p.s. I know that this is F30 topic, but i have B58 too and maybe someone would be interesting is this. |

Bit of a scary moment. So was driving home and car came up with OIL PRESSURE TOO LOW, Stop immediately and turn engine off. So I did just that. Checked under car and where oil filter is and no oil anywhere. Did an oil change yesterday put 6.5L in and have done around 100 miles since. So abit strange. Started it again and no code, Slowly drove the rest of the way home and logged it. At idle was sitting around 23psi and while driving normally was between 30 and 45psi. Not really sure what it could be. Gonna check oil filter housing tomorrow as seems to be a common problem on B58’s. What’s the normal idle oil pressure for the B58 and what’s normal oil pressure when driving

The torque over 5000 RPM holds so strong Dropping a little timing, especially over 6000 RPM in a couple of the logs. Are you sure you're at E50? Maybe increase the ethanol % a bit to see if it cleans the timing up? Rail pressure looks good.

Thanks Oz. I haven't tested my local ethanol pump in a couple of weeks, I'll test it again and adjust my pump calculation a bit, err on the side of E55ish

Looking good happy for you bro it seems lowering the load from 240 to 225-230 fixed the timing dipping issue.
Only thing I noticed Load is fluctuating a bit under 4800 RPM could be fixed by lowering the Load a bit under 4800 RPM. Quote:

The tune base is MPPSK and it was always like that with MPPSK, BMW uses both waste gate and throttle to control boost.
