2013 F30 - Used Car Sales Pricing for Carmax
Hey guys, I have a used f30 335i FBO 6 mt with ~80k miles. I've been having some trouble selling the car, it is fully loaded except the m-sport package..seems like everyone wants this specifically. Anyway, I would like to go to carmax to see what my car would be worth to them, stock of course. Only issue is I don't want to remove the DP/tune..etc and then go to carmax to get a real low offer, has anyone went into carmax recently to appraise their 2013-2014 F30 335i xdrive? Provide mileage/packages/offer if you can.. so I can get a ball-park idea on what they would offer for my car? KBB trade in value shows 12.6-15.1, and private value of 15.3-18.3...stock.
**used KBB instant cash offer and got 13.2 stock Last edited by CTNYCLurk; 06-27-2020 at 08:47 PM.. |

Yup, thats ballpark give or take a few grand wholesale, might even be lower due to "slow car sales" that all dealerships will tell you when they make the lower than average offer.

interesting, carvana offered 13.5 for the information I put in. I should revert back to stock and get rid of it versus the hassle of selling privately

The decision to sell to a private buyer vs wholesale channel (CarMax, dealers) is always a question of time vs money. Your car has a manual transmission, already limiting the potential buyer circle. Plus relatively high mileage for the average buyer. Plus current, softer-than-usual market for used vehicle. If you can wait, by all means try to market the vehicle until the right buyer comes along.

Not in my experience. Carmax lowballs the hell out of you. If KBB is 15k carmax will offer 7k. I've never bought from carmax but their prices seem inflated and they lowball on trades. Also their 150 point inspection is bullshit.

In general they give better offers compared to franchise dealerships, I should have worded that better. They will all low ball, some more than others.

Carvana gave a much better offer on our X3 than Carmax. Last year I think they gave us nearly 4k more than what Carmax offered.

I was looking to trade my BMW before the pandemic hit full force for a Subaru Ascent or a X3 and after seeing this post decided to see how much Carvana would offer. Based on the info I provided, they are offering 2500-3500 more now than what the dealers were offering back in March. Even though my car just sits on the driveway now since I am working from home, guess I better just hold on to it till the economy improves and am comfortable buying something new down the road.
