Meaning OTS maps probably have more changes than what the editor allows you to do. So again not apples to oranges. Let’s do a comparison of a OTS map to a custom ECUTek tune that’s refined. Standing mile on the same car. Up for it? Quote:
Let me know when you monitor cylinder pressures and EGTs on individual cylinders running aggressive lambdas on track on any tune any car, OTS or not. Tell me if that will survive an endurance sprint. We have people that will overheat a stock M2 on track here, imagine what they’ll do with an extra 100whp and more aero? |

Absolutely, let's get some tricked out Ecutek tunes competing with Stg 2+ E30. We all want to see that healthy competition! As for track use, dig into my threads--I doubt anyone else is pushing as much reliable power on track for an entire tank of gas on a 100F track day, in a year round daily driven M2. I'm not flaunting that as a badge, I just knew that was my goal and everything I've done with my car has helped me achieve that. Hence, why I didn't go PS2 and just stuck with my little Dinan turbo--there's no way to keep the car cool on track with PS2 levels of power without detuning to a point that would only make a few more hp than where I'm at. And I'll quote my own response here too: Quote:

After a discussion with a few people, I've decided to update some of my posts above to add in a disclaimer, as indeed I currently have an inherent bias towards ECUTek, but the facts are objective.
End of the day, my opinions are of my own.

So it sounds like ECUTEK only has better and more granular tooling than BM3 and MHD for custom tuners and tuning. For the larger part of the market, which are just Joe schmoes going after "big powa" and "sick burnouts" OTS tunes end up being the better value.
If any of the popular custom tuners wanted to compete with the OTS tunes from BM3 and MHD than ECUTEK would be the best option for them to do that. Golang or Node. You can write a web app in both but one will run faster and cleaner than the other.

Ecutek is the best platform and the only one with Flex Fuel integration (actually working). Ecutek has had B58 tuning in play for like 2 months since racerom was released and nearly all the top 20 cars are ecutek equipped in the 9sec quarter mile club and 1 now in the 8's which is crazy for being so new. These racerom updates will be pushed over to the S55 soon which will add launch control and other upgrades to the year old S55 racerom. I've had Ecutek for over a year and it's worked exactly how I want and the tune has always been spot on. My wife and other family members drive the car and I'm comfortable knowing they won't have any issues. It's dialed so nice for drive-ability. Bend Calibration has tuned many of these cars now and imo is the best tuner for the platform and they fully understand the injection limitations...they also offer a full instruction set for new users and are the only company to offer a plug and play fuel filter setup and a can integrated flex sensor installation kit. BM3 has said flex is coming...well a year ago they told me it wasn't going to happen. So it's good to see this reaction and now map switching is working...albeit the function is to match what Ecutek offers. You know what they say...imitation is the greatest form of flattery. As a customer we have the choice...some will go Apple, others will go Android. I'm happy with my choice and at the end of the day it's the same ecu in the car so it's all how you configure it to work for you. Do what you want, you only live once.
