Eibach springs lowering mod. feedback
I was not very happy with the handling of my GT so I purchase an Eibach Pro-kit (ref E10-20-031-03-22). I keep the original dampers and only change the springs in order to keep the modification in an acceptable price range.
Without replacing the dampers by adustable ones the dampering effect is unchanged. I was a little bit afraid of the final result but the Eibach springs are shorter but also thicker than the original ones and the pairing with the original dampers gives a good result. The lowering is moderate (-2 to -3 cm) and the resulting ground clearance is now similar to the one of the 3 serie sedan model. Speed pumpers can be cross without any second through. The dynamic results are very good in term of lateral stability with no more lateral roll. I have the feeling that I have change from a SUV to a sedan. After realigning the wheels (you really have to have it done properly by a professionnal with a recent test bench) the car is more stable in curves. The overall confort is also not really affected by the lowering. As a conclusion I am very happy of my "new" GT after this lowering. |

Regarding the ground clearence I found this information:
BMW F30 EfficientDynamicsEdition - 124 mm BMW F30/F31 - 140 mm BMW F30/F31 xDrive - 145 mm BMW F34 - 165 mm BMW F34 xDrive - 165 mm So, a F34 with lowering springs is about the same as a stock F30/F31. Reference: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/deuts...che+daten+f34/ ("bodenfreiheit" = "ground clearance")
