It's a shame since you can get them OEM and then they really fit:

Or just go all in on Carbon Fiber!

I just swapped the whole module. It was quick and easy. I tried the button first but there was no led on the US switch.

DIY: easy to remove & install. Use very thin pick/flat head to remove the shift plate. Start from top right corner. I added like 4-5 layers of masking tape between the gaps, so I would not scratch/dent up the handle knob.

Here's a YT video for reference:

The shift plate part was about $12 on alibaba. Shipping was really slow, but it arrived.

I don't think BMW sells this face plate individually, need to buy as whole set, that costs around $250!

My interior trim pieces are the aluminum dark carbon with pearl gloss chrome highlight, getting OEM carbon fiber is nice, however, I was only after aesthetic of the face plate. Small modification on a budget and it compliments the M sport package.

you can't just swap the buttons. the light is on the board itself.

I did the same. Think mine was like $29 bucks shipped from Europe.

Yes, you are right they don't sell seperatly. Nevertheless, we can get the Ceramic kit here for ~160 €, just in case you were intrested.

Does that help with the backup camera? Mine reflects off the white bumper...

omg, you are right, I forgot about that. I have a masking tape over some portion of my backup camera to block the white. I will give it a try.

Edit: Holy crap, yes, it gets rid of the white reflection, I was able to see in the dark after I removed the stupid masking tape.

Finally got F31 safety cards printed. $25 a piece but they're printed on a heavy acrylic stock so they should hold up. Threw in a couple of issues of Houstonia magazine and a couple of airsick bags to close the deal. Big thanks to BWbimmer for dialing in the translation.

Now I just need to install oxygen mask drops and my gag will be complete.

I can dig it up in my email but there's someplace close by - highly recommended - that was going to do a clear film for me on that spot. I never got around to it. No reason they couldn't do flat black PPF I assume.

Cool, thanks. I'm mostly ok, but my drive has a curve and I always back out of it! That my biggest issue.

For those with white cars you can also code the license plate lights to dim or turn off when reverse is engaged to avoid the white wash on the camera...

thinking of doing this also but I have an anthracite wood trims. do you think it will clash or it's OK to put gear shifter/plate carbon fiber with anthracite wood trim? I don't want to change the other trims, just the gear shifter/plate.

thanks,

Why don't you take a picture of the interiour of your can and photoshop the 2 shifter options?
I can just say with the Ceramic option being so reflective, it's nicely blending in with my carbon parts. But it's all personal taste
