Can i leave the battery charger connected to the car during all winter season?
Hi!
I have an F32 435I XDrive BMW (2013) and i don't use it in the winter season. Can i leave the charger connected to the car during all winter to maintain battery voltage? Or this is harm anything? The car is in a garage that is not heated. I have a CTEK MXS 5.0 charger. |

Mine is on a charger thxgiving to easter....six months straight. CTEK charger. I don't drive the f30 much due to a combination of covid and having too many wheels. Might sell it, barely did 4k this year...but I digress...

Most chargers have a "maintainer" function intended specifically for that. I however do not like the thought of having the battery (and car) hooked up on an electrical socket whilst I am a few thousand km away on holiday, so I typically charge it fully just before I leave and again when I come back, if needed.

Thanks the answers!
I left about a month plugged in the car... I started the car at the last week and its all ok! It's a great solution when I don’t use the car in the winter. |
