Speed Camera Alerts
Did a quick search and can't see this posted so apologies if it has been posted before.
Speed camera alerts are now an option via the Connected Drive store for a one off £20 for 12 months. I think it's only available for ID7 equipped cars but the website will tell you if it's available for your car anyway. I don't think it does audible alerts but instead puts the warnings on the dash and in the HUD (if you have HUD) Worth a punt for 20 quid if it saves you once.... I've just ordered it for mine. Will nip in the car in a bit and update the services to see if it appears.

I can certainly see the potential benefit if your mileage takes you to areas you're not familiar with and where fixed cameras might be in use - for £20 it's probably worth it. However, round here almost all the speed cameras are mobile rather than fixed and I'm not sure how effective it can be against those sort of devices?

Worth it for motorways though or unfamiliar areas as you say. Armaan |

I have it on my G21 330i and it works well. As has been pointed out though, no use against mobile devices but Waze picks those up in CarPlay.

So if you've got Waze what's the benefit of the BMW app? I suppose it means you don't have to have Waze open all the time and, if you've got HUD, the alerts are shown more clearly; however, assuming its mapping of fixed cameras is kept up to date it sounds like Waze will do the job for free?
In any event, when I log-in to the Connected Drive website it's telling me the Safety Camera app isn't available for my car which, given it's a March 2020 build with ID7, I don't really understand? I can only think it's a software update issue as looking at other threads I think people with G2x cars older than mine are running the app without a problem! |

You're right, Waze does the job for free but I prefer the BMW Nav personally and of course Waze can't update the HUD.
Your G21 should be fine but it depends on your software version, you may need an update.

I take your point on both the Nav and HUD but where I live the vast majority of cameras are mobile rather than fixed and hence I'm thinking the BMW app might be of only limited use. That said, £20/year is neither here nor there so if I can get it running on my car - which I agree is probably a software update issue - I might get it anyway!
