Tyre suppliers
Yes ANOTHER tyre thread ...
I need to replace the full set of tyres on my 340i, settled on Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S. Fronts: 225/40/R19 Rears: 255/35/R19 The best price I've found so far is BlackCircles at £704 fitted. I normally use Costco, but they aren't showing my sizes in stock. Any recommendation for other (Read: cheaper) suppliers? |

Keep an eye on price, I picked up the same tyres (admittedly without fitting) from Black Circles last month for £550. Fitting at my local place would have been about £40 on top of that but in the end the bodyshop did it as a favour FOC. Sometimes they have offers so it's worth holding on and keeping an eye on the sites over a week or so to see what deals they come up with. Camskill are another one which usually offer some very competitive prices.

This seems to be the worst time of year to get summer tires. The MPS4s* in your front tyre size just jumped from 160 to 190 quid (Kwik Fit) this week! All the big outlets seem to be around the £700 mark for x4 MPS4s in 340i sizes now, and around 550 - 600 in the colder months.

Worked out at £660 delivered and my usual place charge £15 each fitted, so no saving there sadly. |

Annoyingly my tyres have all have 4.5mm'ish tread, but I've picked up a nail and sidewall bulge on two of them! |

I usually buy from black circles or camskill
where ever you buy from do not use mytyres !! I was lured by a much cheaper price for a tyre for the wife's fiesta from mytyres , the delivery date was put back twice so from order date to final delivery date was 8 weeks . I needed the tyre quickly so ordered another for next day delivery from black circles . both tyres arrived on the same day !!! one was expected the other from mytyres just appeared !! I gather that mytyres buy in from another source once they get an order . very annoying experience down to reliability . there are several pages of bad reviews out there on my tyres as well as small number of good ones , just beware !! |

You could try Oponeo but recently their prices seem to have risen.
I have PS4s tyres on my 340i and in fairness they are good, but although I can and do push it a fair bit on occasions I'm sure I'm nowhere near the capability of the tyre. Having run Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3's before and the wifes Z4 is on 5's when my PS4s's are shot I will replace with Goodyears. I find that for me they are just as good as Michelins and they will save a few bob as well (£146 on a set G/Y £570 - Michelin £716) from Oponeo on today's prices. Worth a consideration if you ask me. |

Take your best price into a few local tyre places and see if they will match or better it.
I did that on a couple of tyres a while back and found that my local tyre place undercut it, even though initially their price was higher. |

Might be worth trying tyresonthedrive.com (now owned by Halfords). I'd not used them before but pricing was competitive and the service was spot-on - the fitter was clearly a car enthusiast and asked whether I had any preference on specific wheel bolts torque etc.

Having MPS4 fitted to my rears tomorrow. Took advantage of black circles' June offer which was 15% off.
Would never use Oponeo again - had to cancel my bank card as they tried to rob me. Nasty people. |

K13GRY I had Goodyear AS 5 fitted by black circles in April for £585 same size as you need.
They are very good tyres, very quiet and grippy. Much better than the AS 3 I had previously. May be take a look at them instead? |

Another vote for the Goodyear Asy 5s, been running for a few months now and I recon they're pretty decent. For someone of my capabilities I can't tell much difference from the PS4 I've had previously.

I've got AS5's on the Impreza which is a much lighter car but they are great on there. The only reason I went for the PS4S was that they allegedly had the slightly stiffer sidewall, whereas the standard PS4 comes in a little softer than the AS5. On the Impreza at 1350kg the 225/45/17 feels very firm riding, whereas in the 1750kg F31 the PS4S do feel quite soft despite the 255/35/19 on the back as you can definitely feel the tyre settle much more than you ever did with the S001's. Not sure what that adds to things other than saying they're both good tyres!

I had 1 Bridgestone run flat fitted today for £192.
There was a nail in the tyre which was initially thought to be repairable as it was in the middle of the tread. Once the tyre was removed a split inside the carcass was revealed so the tyre was scrap. Choice was 1 new tyre or replace all 4 for non run flats but other 3 still have plenty of tread left so I took the cheapest option. I was advised not to have new non run flats on the rear & run flats on the front as it would invalidate my insurance.

Just had my rear tyres replaced by BMW as I had a nail in 1 of them and the tread was at 4mm…BMW original quoted £££££'s then total them of the price I could get them supplied & fitted from Blackcircle (cheapest at the time) and they pretty much matched the price

I normally check between Blackcircles, tyreleader, camskill and oponeo.
Usually end up with home delivery and take them somewhere to get fitted, used to be able to pay £5 a corner including disposal, but best I get these days is £15 a pair. I have a second set of winter wheels so tend to swap the tyres over when the wheels are off the car, usually get a cheaper rate if they don't have the hassle of putting the car on a ramp and getting the wheels off too.

Update.... Got a full set of MPS4S from Costco, £540 fitted!!!
I questioned the guy twice, making sure the sizing / price was correct. Just waiting 2 weeks for the tyres to come in from Michelin. Super happy with that result (unlike the football!!) |
